Part 1:  Pre-Roleplaying

As stated in your welcome message ( if you’re reading this after you have joined this roleplay ), you are obliged to get your weapons / tools at SCHOOL. Do not, we repeat, do not get it in the general store ( you don’t have enough points anyway ). After you have received your weapon / tool from school, the area will be a forbidden zone to you and you are not allowed to roleplay there under any circumstances. Forbidden zones and weapons will be explained later on.

Please do not roleplay with anyone before you get your primary weapon / tool. Details on how to obtain one are stated on the room’s description. If you have troubles seeing it, please contact an admin via PM. We will copy-paste the description there. Once you have obtained your weapon / tool, you are expected to put it somewhere on your profile / status. If you haven’t done so, we assume that you haven’t got yours and you will receive a warning if you have RPed with someone. Yes, one or even two of us will check.

Part 2: Roleplaying

GENERAL RULES – After you have completed the instructions above, you are free to roleplay with anyone without the admins bugging you! Our roleplay does not require you to read / watch BR, but we advise you to familiarize yourself with its plot in order to make roleplaying easier. If you’re familiar with The Hunger Games, you might have an idea on what BR is about since their concepts are quite similar.

In case you’re new to both, Battle Royale is a program where a ninth grade class is brought to an island under the guise of a study trip. They are forced to kill each other until only one person remains. If you wish to know more, you may read the roleplay’s description page or open this page ( warning: contains spoilers! ).

Despite that, there will be absolutely NO character deaths. Your character may be greatly injured, but no deaths since it would make things even more complicated. Your character technically ‘dies’ when you leave the roleplay, but that’s just it. More details will be explained later on.

SPECIAL FEATURES – Each roleplay has their own uniqueness, and we have special features that not all roleplay has. We highly encourage you to go through this part since it might cause confusion:

FORBIDDEN ZONES – The name itself is pretty self-explanatory. A forbidden zone will be chosen at random, and no one is allowed to post there under any circumstances. Even if you try to do so, the admins will disable room postings. Unlike the original story, only one forbidden zone will be chosen every week instead of multiple locations every day. After one week, the rooms will be enabled, but all room posts will be cleared. The admins will not notify anyone, but the dates will be stated a week before the room becomes a forbidden zone. If you wish to continue the roleplay, you may do so via wall post or PM, but the admins are not responsible for any loss. The school becomes a forbidden zone right after you have obtained your primary weapon/tool. If you are curious on how the island looks like, you may check the map.

GROUP ROLEPLAYS – Group roleplays are encouraged, as it is normal for your character to form allies ( and being alone is fine, too, as long as you actually roleplay with people ). Plot discussions will be done in walls or PM, but we might open a special plotting room if needed.

ACTIVITY POINTS – We have provided a special room ( the general store ) that makes use of your activity points for purchase. We understand that your primary weapon / tool might not be your or your character’s favourite, which is why we decided to let you purchase secondary ones. You can earn activity points by participating in the lottery or by simply roleplaying with others in rooms. The general store may be a forbidden zone as well. More details about it can be viewed in the room’s description.

WEAPONS, TOOLS, AND MEDICINES – As said above, you may purchase secondary ones in the general store after you obtain your primary weapon / tool at school. Your character does not have to be an expert at using them ( e.g. if your character gets a bow, he / she does not have to be good at shooting arrows. In fact, he / she may be extremely bad at using it. Use your creativity for this one! ). You are expected to put them somewhere in your profile and state their quantity. If you use them during one of your roleplays, you are expected to update its quantity immediately. We can’t really check, so we expect your honesty for this one.

DEATHS AND INJURIES – Your injuries do not heal / disappear automatically. Your character will keep the injury until someone heals it for you. If you are roleplaying with two or more people at once, you should state the injury in your next reply ( you don’t need to say where did you get it from ). Again, we expect your honesty for this one. And we would like to repeat once more, NO CHARACTER DEATHS WHATSOEVER.

Part 3: Characterization

As said in the Rules page, you are expected to have a profile ready as soon as possible, though we do not rush you for this one. It does not have to be fancy! We’re looking for fancy background and personality, not layouts ( we are not prohibiting you from using fancy layouts, but contents over design ). Speaking of background and personality, you may skip this part ( though we recommend you to read it, just in case ), but here are a few tips for your character’s backstory:

We do not recommend Mary Sues nor do we want Gary Stus. Your character isn’t flawless, and we want reasons why your character acts like this, and so on and so forth. Of course, your character may be an expert at field A, but do not make him/her an expert in field A to Z. If you insist on doing so, make your character somehow disabled. Take Kazuo Kiriyama from the original story for example. He learns new things like playing the violin very easily, but there’s a chance that he is mute in the book and movie, and he suffers from brain injuries ( might be a spoiler to some ).

You may base your character off a character from Battle Royale. As long as you don’t steal the whole background, it will be completely fine with us. Though we want you to be as creative as possible, taking a few points from one of the original characters is all right. If you want to have any special relations with another character, go ahead.

Try not to base your character’s personality off your faceclaim’s personality. If your faceclaim is TOP from Big Bang, for example, your character does not have to like Bearbricks, or is a ‘rapping god’. Again, this is an AU roleplay. You are not idols here.

Any questions or suggestions should be directed to the head admin ( Fujiwara Katsuo ) via PM. We will create an announcement for questions soon enough, and your question might be answered there ( I will be answering your question via PM first ) in order to avoid similar confusions. However, if the answer to your question is stated in this guide, we will not be posting it there. You do not need to comment if you have read this, since it is quite easy to tell.
