What is a pets ' life ?
Okay so this is to clear up some character background issues. Masters should read too, just because. I bolded the important parts for masters. Below is Kibums' life so far.
Created in a testube Kim Kibum has spent his entire life within the Laboratory that birthed him. The huge state of the art facility ( did I mention this rp is set in a future world ? ) had provided him everything he needed.
Age 0 Kibum had been placed into an 60cm by 60cm glass box, from here he was fed and changed by nurses every few hours. (Okay so in my plot for Key he has a stuffed toy that has been with him since he was a kid. You can have something like that too if you want. The stuffed toy was given to him by a nurse when he was a few weeks old. It would all depend upon what nurse your character had.)
Once he began crawling he was moved to a larger rectangular box that was 2 meters by one meter. In here he met other Neko's the same age as him. This young interaction was encouraged because, after all, who would want a unsociable pet? At this stage he was still cared for by nurses who'd give him his bottle and lay him down for naps etc. He remained in here until he was able to walk.
Then deemed too old for the crawling box Kibum was taken to a small room. This room housed all toddlers, hence it was filled with toys and messy paintings. He spent 2 years here, sleeping on the mats at nap time and at " night time ", he never really knew if it was night or day due to the lack of real light. Here he learned how to be sociable, how to hone his motor skills and the beginnings of how to speak. Small words like " toy " , "food " , " nurse" etc.
When he was 4 he was moved to the dorm. The dorm was a long hall with small beds at one end and a play/ learning/ dining area at the other. Here he got his first friend, learnt how to read and write, do basic maths, stopped peeing the bed etc.
He left the dorm at age 9, moving on to another larger dorm with older children. Here they had actual bedrooms, each one shared between 3 or 4 Nekos. This was also the place where their formal education stopped. Instead they were taught about their bodies, what changes might occur what was normal for a cat and what was normal for a dog. It was also the place they were told their purpose in life. To be pets. Then came the t.v. No longer old enough to play for hours on end they were allowed to watch television in the communal dorm room for a few hours a day. This t.v consisted of whatever the nurses deemed appropriate, cartoons, wildlife programmes etc. It was their first peek into the outside world, one they'd been told about but had never seen.
At the age of 16 (ual maturity) Kibum had been moved to the last dorm he'd live in . Here he was given his own room and allowed to start cooking for himself. This place was the place he gained basic independence. He got to clean his own room . cook his own food and watch what he wanted to watch ( almost anyway, most shows were prohibited but he got a choice at least). This is where the real outside world came to him. Along the wall of each room was a window , a window that showed only a short distance of concrete before hitting another high wall. He couldn't see over it. But what he did get to see and feel, was the sun on his face. He also got to see the sky and the rain and leaves and lightning. It was thrilling. But this didn't last too long, on his 18th birthday ( a birthday that he had no idea about since they were not known nor celebrated) he was moved into the cells and put up for sale.
Okay so your character will not know their birthday until they're brought and their master given a file with information on them. Information on their breed and basic things such as name, age , date of birth, height, weight etc. They will know how old they are though since they're moved at 18 and told that they're 18 also as kids they were taught about ages so they do know what age is and how old they were when they were like.. 4-6 .
Also here's what the cells are like :
-painted, smooth white walls and floor
- small 4 meters by 4 meters.
- have one metal bed witha mattress, pillow and coloured comforter of their choice or a bunch of blankets and pillows on the floor ( depending on the pets preference)
- a metal hip high cabinet to house their worldly possessions. (Anything they were given before they came to the cell along with the allocated two shirts and two trousers along with two pairs of underwear and a pair of socks.)
- one sink to wash their face in the morning or something like that.
Life in the cells.
They're taken once a week for a shower, alone. They're given soap, shampoo, etc
A ward officer will walk the wings once every three hours to see if anyone wants to go to the toilet.
The ward officer will also ( after toilet duty) see if anyone needs a cup of water
Other than that, pets are fed three times a day Breakfast ( cereal or something ) Lunch ( main and pudding) and Tea ( a small meal) all meals are eaten within their cells.
Kibum managed to get some nail polish, the story behind it, is that he managed to convince the ward officer to get him some after weeks of begging.
he also has a t.v, this is something that is only occasionally given to pets that have been there for a while he's been there for 5 years
IMPORTANT: your pet has been in its cell since it turned 18. This means Kibum is now 23 rl so he'd have been in the cells for 5 years.
