Daddy's Girl [Ace Drabble]

"Hello? Anyone home," she calls out, undoing her bun and letting her hair fall free as she entered the apartment.

Stepping out of her shoes, she locks up the door and called out again, hearing a soft jingling. When she looks down, she's greeted by a little black cat that she swooped up in her arms.

"Hello, Princess. Mommy's back from work," she pouts, nuzzling the top of the feline's head with a sigh.

She begins looking around as she makes her way to the living room, brows pulling together, "Princess, you didn't leave your daddy somewhere, did you? You know he's not good with being alone around humans. We have to watch out for him, too."

She's used to the two felines heading out every once in a while. Princess is rightfully hers, a gift from her mother when she was younger. Her other roommate, on the other hand, is a street cat, which is weird to say considering he's not really fully feline anyway. She calls out again and is soon greeted by another little black cat, his collar clearly reading "Puddin" across it in gold letters. With her brows knitted all over again, she's picking up the kitten and looking into his eyes.

"You're never in this form. You told me it wears you out," she says worriedly and he just scrambles in response to curl up under her chin, "Something's got you scared, and more than usual."

She his back to calm him down before she notices the shadow by the window. She doesn't need to turn on the light to see who it is but she does reach for the light anyway out of habit.

"Dad, what are you doing here?"

"What? Can't I just come see my loving daughter once in a while," the green-haired male flashes his usual unusually wide smile, pale skin almost glistening in the warm lighting of the room.

"You only come by when you need something," she scoffs, sitting on the couch with the two kitten settling in her lap, "Have you been treating mom well?"

"O-Of course, sweetheart. Nothing you need to worry about."

"Mm, you know I still keep in touch with auntie, right?"

He stiffens up, knowing just who she's referring to, "That redhead is nothing but trouble. I swear she comes around way too much."

"Well, you wouldn't have anything to worry about if you just do what we tell you."

"Crime isn't easy and you know your mother can be quite overbearing."

"Love tends to do that to people sometimes."

He flinches again, dramatically clutching his chest, "Can't you ever just greet me with a smile? You're so serious to be a daughter of mine."

"I was raised by mom and my aunt."

"If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were Pammy's kid."

With that, she stands up, carefully setting the cats aside, and moves to stand in front of her father, fixing his hair for him, "Don't worry. I'm still daddy's girl."

There's a pause and she disappears for a moment before coming back and handing him a small handful of diamonds.

"Just remember," she begins, "I'll kill you if you hurt mommy again."

He blinks and gives his usual smile of embarrassment at her threat, "I'm getting better. I'm getting better. Old habits are hard to break."

"Better that than you're neck broken, right, daddy?"

"Ah, right, pumpkin," he pauses, smiling though, "You're quite a scary one, you know? I'm so proud."

"Thanks, dad," she beams, pecking his cheek.
