How to end a friendship

I figured this day would come where I would have to cut off my current best friends. I just need advice on how to do it. Its a two way street for this situation so we are both at fault for some stuff so..

Any advice on how to do it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes everything aphotic said they are smart.
Just be open and honest and maybe just take a break unless if it’s too toxic and you need out

calmly explain why YOU'RE at fault for some of the things you did and apologize for it, but also explain how you felt when that friend did what they did as well. refrain from attacking eachother, be kind, be civil and set future goals. communicate them articulately so your message isn't cryptic or passive aggressive. example: "this is what happened, this how i felt and i dont think we should be in contact any longer"
