There's a disconnect in his expression. You can't pinpoint it and it's when he smiles that you're really unnerved. This isn't like him.
He never smiles, and yet he's smiling at you.
You know the truth. His diagnosis. He doesn't process emotions. He has alexithymia.
Since you've known him, spent time with him, you've grown used to it. The questions he asks you, the things he very clearly doesn't understand. He tries and all you do is help him. You even know what he did to his parents yet you don't hate him. He's been an empty shell since you met him but...
He's smiling at you. His amber eyes are wholly focused on you and you can't look away. When you cup his cheek, his smile fades and-- there! You spot the diconnect again. He's confused. You place your other hand on his chest and, in a gentle tone, you say one word.
"Breathe."
He blinks and inhales deeply, taking a few seconds before exhaling. He does it a couple of times, following your guide. As he looks at you again, there's a crack in his disconnect. His golden eyes aren't as cold as they usually are and you smile at him. His gaze turns distant for a moment and it seems like he's looking past you. Pulling you into him, you hear a gunshot in the next instant. When you open your eyes, your brows furrow before you notice his gun is smoking. He fires it one more time and then there's the groan behind you before it goes silent.
His expression is empty but there's more warmth crachking through that cold in his gaze. As he looks down at you, his brows tighten again.
"I got him."
He whispers and you chuckle. You hug him tightly and he holds onto you in return. Fox is one of his many names. It just comes along with his reputation. It's the name he gave you when you met him. You know him deeper now though. There's more to him and you're gently scraping at the surface until you can find your way through.
"You got him, Hongjoong... You got him..."
