Kevin (originally named Aquila) was born to a peaceful vampire family in the great city of Rome, during the reign of emperor Tiberius. They observed the fall of the Roman Empire and the rise of Christianity, eventually converting to the religion themselves. The family and their friends moved around a lot, at one point even joining the Vikings on their voyage to Greenland. The millennium was spent happily, it was calm. The calm before the storm.

Around 1000 A.D., they had settled down in Southern Germany. Everything passed by normally, it was a few centuries before the crusades began. His father, now a devout Christian, joined the holy knights in their mission to wrest Jersulam from the Muslim occupation and never returned. They immigrated several times, living in England under Richard Lionheart at one point. They stayed there for several centuries, until Kevin's older sister was lost to the 'Black Death' that plagued the country. Chased around all over the world by the inquisition, Kevin and his remaining family lived in fear and in terror. The hunt for heretics claimed several of his friends and relatives. Only his mother and his younger brother survived, until they too died in the U.S. Civil War. Alone and immortal - but not invincible - Kevin moved to China, where he adopted the last name 'Woo' and changed his first name as well, to 'Kevin'.

He succesfully lived through the Opium war, the Sino-Japanese war and the Second World war, but began to wonder if being alive was really worth it. Like a curse, everyone he loved died around him while only he continued to suffer. He wanted to die, he even tried to kill himself several times.. But he was the only heir to a powerful and ancient vampire lineage and his powers rejected his desire of death. Against his will, against his desperate need to end his life, he kept on surviving. And this is also the reason he joined Starlight Academy. Even if he cannot kill himself, he can be killed. So he seeks out danger, in hope to find someone that surpasses his unwanted abilities and succeeds in permanently banishing him to the underworld. And maybe.. maybe there is also a sliver of hope that somebody could make him find joy in life once more.
