For the longest I've been wanting a mobile version of RPR... cuz I'd have multiple uses for it other than roleplaying lol. So I checked out a couple RP oriented apps... didn't seem to support subprofiles... then I checked out Path and (Line) Band and was upset because someone told me Path had subprofiles when it didn't, and the you couldn't change your name/picture for different groups in Band. (Like: that is the best thing you could do with Band, but alas -- it all boils down to one account, one profile.) I eventually considered designing an app, and asking my dad to gather some of his contacts to help me build it. (and then somehow contact the peeps behind this site and etc etc)

Well that may not be entirely necessary anymore, thanks to a little advanced Google searching.

Introducing Chaatz~!
Chaatz is a brand spankin' new iOS app that prides itself on two things:

Multiple Profiles (ex: "work" or "personal")
No need for a cell phone number -- you get a Chaatz number instead.
I don't know about you, but those are two things I could use. Granted, since it's only ver 1.1.0 , there are bound to be future additions to the app and some wrinkles to iron out. (Especially for it to provide a lot of our fave services found in other SMS/IM apps we use.) I'm also not entirely sure how this thing works, so I won't be able to say much else about its faults, limits, or capabilities. (Let's just hope that what it says, it does well.) It'd be great to see more of the Line/Kakao/Facebook features in addition to the basics... like timelines and group chats. But that's stuff for another update, if it's not in there already.

As for how well this will work for mobile roleplaying, it depends on what kinda experience you're looking for. I think if you're someone who has used SNS/SMS/Chat platforms (i.e. Facebook, Path, maybe Kakao/Line) or Blogs (i.e. Twitter, tumblr), then you'll probably fair alright as long as the formalities are hosted elsewhere. It most certainly isn't any kinda replacement for RPR -- just a mobile roleplaying alternative that you might be able to use alongside every other SMS/IM app you have. If you're someone who likes the setup of RPR (like me huhu) then let me forewarn you that the app is just to cover the bare necessities of conversing under different names/profiles without having to create multiple accounts.

So now it's one user, and however many accounts Chaatz allows.

I heard recently that a lot of people prefer playing on walls or PMs these days, so I thought I'd share this info. If that's not the case anymore it's cuz I've been gone so damn long.

If you want to learn more, visit the site or google it.

Aaaaaand if you check it out, lemme know what you think! I really like the concept and I'm a little upset that it's not out on Android, so imma need you iPhone users to help me out here hehehe.

Unless this goes unanswered in the next month. Then I'm buying iTouch. (or maybe just ask for my dad's old one...)

(I still might go ahead and design the app though... you know, just so I have it. :d)
