That time where even one of your ultimate bias album make you think 'meh, decent'

After finally gathering the courage to download Junsu's second album, I'm enjoying it more than the first. However, I'm still 'it's decent' can't complain really.

Sometimes, I love an album more when I listen to it over time. K Will first album is a great example, the songs are amazing because there's a variety. I love, love, love his Please Don't, Love Blossom, Love 119 albums, but I think that's because I came to hate his ballads over time (and this man can do no wrong in my eyes) Well, I love his ballads when done correctly and not something generic and formula. Probably why I hate hearing Miss, Miss, Miss unless it's a certain live version.

Jaejoong second album was pretty decent for me too. Repeated listens I find certain charms to some songs. I think anything is an improvement because I hated his first album outside of Mine. I guess because I expected him to do something more j rock (and keep in mind I dislike j rock with some exceptions like Moi dix Mois) His second album offered more rockish songs, but I can't really complain.

I think my disappointment stems from expecting the JYJ boys to not play it safe with their music. But I have to remember that when Alex from Classiquai when solo, he said he was going to give us something different and we got....an album of him singing ballads. Well, he was correct since Classiquai songs always been experimental/electrical(?) rather than the usual Korean ballads.

How ironic since I love ballads. Give me a few Sung Si Kyung ballads, I'm happy as a clam. When other artists do it, I think it's more of a vocal showcase rather than sincere feelings. It's a reason why I love K Will- I Hate Myself since I heard a NG of him crying during the recording.

So,variety might be a good thing in albums? Possibly, but it can easily turn into a musical word salad.
