the term formal is to look prim and proper, yes? but what exactly does make up have to do with being prim and proper? personally, i'm not a big fan of make up but i do look up to those who can apply and transform themselves into "better-looking" people. anyway, my point is – there is a wedding i have to attend this weekend and my parents are being ridiculously picky and opinionated about this entire attire. its ing pathetic in my opinion. we're just guests who are going to attend and enjoy the wedding along with the bride and groom. we are not there to look better than the bride and groom. i think i have the right to have my own say on what i want to do to myself that day. sure i have the dress and shoes picked out, but hair and make up? my hair looks fine as it is, just a few brushes here and there and it styles up on its own. my face? if i say i don't want makeup on my face, i absolutely do not want it. i hate the feeling of foundation digging into my skin and pores after a long night– especially when i get all sweaty after a dance. i dislike mascara or fake lashes that goes on my eyes and contacts. i look ing ugly without my glasses, what makes you think i'd want to wear contacts– it was fun to wear any kinds of make up and experiment with them during prom, but -- i just don't want it. i don't even look nice with make up if i'm being completely honest. i prefer my natural face because i think it looks fine as it is. i don't have much pimples so why bother painting my face with foundation or was it concealer? my eyes look pretty decent with my glasses on, why would i need to take them off and apply mascara that could eventually blind me once i start sweating– its ing annoying to be honest. i really truly do not understand why makeup is such an important thing to an event. if you think and believe that you look fine with your natural face and are confident in it, why bother covering that up? does my face need to match my dress? no. sure i can apply a bit of lipstick but thats about all i'd want on my face. i probably sound like a whiny brat --- but, why bother arguing with parents who don't even understand you? its useless if you ask me. its like speaking to a fish who just continues to swim back and forth with little bubbles coming from their mouth. they just don't listen. but okay to summarise, i don't hate make up, i just don't want it on my face -- formal doesn't need to involve make up -- if you're confident with your natural face then you don't need it -- i'm being a whiny child. the end.

p.s. also, you guys should listen to hamilton. its a ing masterpiece. its amazing. if you're into musicals, hip hop, r&b, ballads, history for all i care, then take a listen to the work of art.

I can see where you are coming from but i weat makeup. Not a whole lot like other girls but i do do my brows and eyes, but not fondation. Yes i agree fondation is icky but its a wedding, and if fondation isnt for you atleast touch up on your face with a little blush and brows or waterproof mascara. Dont get me wrong, do you but since its a wedding, take some of my advice. Then again you do you. :)

Last time I went to a wedding, I wore a sweater and pants, no makeup, hair normal (though it's short so can't put it up anyway) and no one at the wedding cared. I hate when people put too much value in makeup and stuff. It's cool, but it's not that big
