BACKGROUND:

Captain Amelia Dawes was one of the first ace female fighter pilots in the world and a pioneer in deep space travel. Once thought to be lost on a top secret mission on the edge of the solar systerm, her failing ship was picked up by a passing alien cruiser. Amelia was the only survivor and somewhere near death when the Ashari attempted to save her but they weren't exactly familiar with her anatomy. After a few attempts they made a last ditch effort, bonding their her DNA with theirs and forever changing her. When she woke she found she had far beyond normal human strength, something about the way the two races merging making her more powerful than she ever could have imagined.

Without an immediate route home, she stayed among the Ashari and learned their ways and become a bit of an ambassador between their two races (Even falling for one). They deemed that for saving her life she would have to repay them by using her new abilities. With her previous experiences and combat training she became something of a policeman, following the crew of the Hirani'rha as they took out renegades and other villains. Once her debt was deemed paid (by saving the life of the Admiral, even though it cost the life of her Ashari love) they gave her her own small ship and sent her back to earth.

When Captain Dawes pulled into orbit around earth in the Binary, two years had passed and at first the government didn't know what to do with her. They tried to convince her to go into space again but she had had enough, preferring to try and retire in Andarta for a while because she just couldn't handle the sadness being out there caused. Despite taking to the bottle rather hard she decided to more or less continue the work she started among the Ashari, becomming a free-lance private investigator.
