As far as she's concerned, Soyeon has it all: confidence, kindness, leadership skills, smarts... Well... As long as you're not asking her about history, she has smarts. Throughout her life, her take-charge attitude has won her spots in class president and employee of the month positions. Both a lover and a fighter, she tries her best to help friends and family, give advice, and offer protection. She's talkative, friendly, and extroverted to the point that she has a little trouble with personal space.
These traits that she believes to be her strengths, unfortunately, often are viewed as negatives. She's lost several friends; accused of being bossy, sticking her nose in issues that she shouldn't, and thinking she's better than other people. Even her older sister refuses to talk to her outside of the holidays. Soyeon doesn't think herself to be as rude as they make her out to be; she makes a lot of mistakes, but she doesn't think she's better than anybody. Her only interest is in helping people. Soyeon believes in doing good, even if people around her don't think her definition of good is good.
After graduating from school, she lost her class presidency, which was difficult for her. Being the head of a student body, taking on challenges, hearing complaints, fighting the staff to better school for the students, leading activities, and bossing some kids around was the highlight of her entire preeteen and teenaged years. She was in her prime, and then, suddenly, she wasn't. She took on sales marketing and a business major in college, but she still had a void to fill. That is, until she overheard a few people discussing what a great time they had at camp in her university's cafeteria.
When she thinks about it, it seems fated that she'd be a camp counselor--she has no idea how she hadn't been one before. It combines a lot of what she loved about student council and class presidency with the fun of the summer season. She's prepared for all the fun and even the not-so-fun tasks she'll get up to, new friendships made, and general camp foolishness.
