I know he's real. He's out there, somewhere, waiting for the day he can go back home. The wolf in me is resonating with Jaeduck - do you feel it too? It's so... sad. We have to help him.

Speculation, is the "Wolf Boy" Real?

Many stories have been circulating a particular high school in the area of Sokcho, it's students claiming the so-called "Wolf Boy" has been seen around the woods behind the school building. Of the people we interviewed - this person shall remain nameless - it is said that he's waiting. For what? We don't know, and neither do the students. Is this just one big hoax, or is he really out there?

He's real.

I think, therefore I am. How does this apply when even one's own thoughts may not be his own? Kim Jaeduck was born from a single story, spread across an oral and (eventually) Digital platform. You may know him as the Wolf Boy. The key to Jaeduck's existence is very simple if you understand what he is. Someone out in the human realm created the tall tale of a boy gone missing. Abandoned - by his parents no less. At just the tender age of three years old he was left in the forest to die, only to be discovered by an intelligent pack of wolves. Instead of being killed and eaten the child was taken in by these animals and raised as one of their own. For years he hunted, played and lived as a wolf, his humanity all but forgotten. Perhaps he would have stayed in that protective wood had he not been discovered by a hiker. The local authorities were informed of a teenaged boy, head to toe with unruly hair scurrying about the forest. Once found he was forced to the very civilization he'd grown up without (in the real world this discovery was known nationwide, published in news articles, blogs and on the television as well). When they realized he could not communicate he was "taken in" by a well-known group of scientists that claimed they could successfully assimilate him into society. After years of trial and error, alongside secret experiments kept hidden from the public, the "Wolf Boy" case was deemed a lost cause, and he was given up to a single caretaker that lived deep in the heart of this particular city.

tulpa (སྤྲུལ་པ, sprul-pa, निर्मित) ;
a thoughtform, or being created from the collective thoughts of separate individuals.

+ dressed by his caretaker
+ actually hates wearing any clothes
+ can only say his name
+ will randomly enter a feral state
+ wants to return to the forest
+ still doesn't understand human language
+ not completely assimilated
+ but enough to at least act human-ish
+ responds to words like food & meat
+ deathly terrified of thunderstorms

plots

animal: while you're really an animal you can't deny that jaeduck's feral episodes are truly something to behold. Maybe that's why you only him when he's angry, because jaeduck is a human beast that can't deny what feels so good.

Electric: In order to keep him from running away he is forced to wear a shock collar. Though Jaeduck's been shocked before he still wishes to return to the forest, so it makes sense that when an opportunity arises he slips out from under the watchful gaze of his caretaker. That's why you end up finding him on the forest floor, bloody neck and wild eyes as the electricity continues to burn.

Caretaker: as the public isn't supposed to know of his status as an experiment jaeduck is allowed to live in the outside world, but only because you help to "take care of him." Thing is, he absolutely detests you.

Non-believer: There's no way Jaeduck exists simply because people are thinking about him, right? It just doesn't make sense to you, but the thought of it possibly being true makes you want to test your theory. With enough time, and the ability to get it out there, perhaps you can even change him through the thoughts of other people?

buddy: it's just something about you that jaeduck finds comforting. whatever the reason, you find him attached to your hip whenever the two of you are allowed some time to be together. *minseok
