Kyungsoo is descended from the great Toph Beifong family, a family from the Earth Kingdom where the famed badgermoles had taught his ancestor. Like the woman, Kyungsoo was born blind, though he was born with the ability to Earth bend. Though because of his disablity, the heir was prevented from harnessing the power as his parents feared he would be harmed.
The young boy saw it as the furthest thing from a disability though and decided that he would learn on his own and in secret. Much like his ancestor, Kyungsoo snuck out during the night and learned through the vibrations that the badgermoles made how to control the earth and bend it to his will.
One thing lead to another and the young man had long learned about the underground tournaments held for pro bending. Kyungsoo "watched" and learned the rules of the game before he entered, under a disguise of course. He was a natural at the sport and landed himself up as the undefeated champion on more than one occasion.
Those nights were Kyungsoo sneaks out are the ones that he looks forward to most, the way he waits for the sun to set and becomes impatient before he's heading out and sneaking off into the night. He's got a lot to learn but is certainly a formidable opponent, just one that is guarded like a semi precious gem when in fact he is the brightest of them all.
*Please note Soo is just learning how to lava bend. He can do the basics but needs to hone in on making himself better at this form of fighting.*
personality
Because Kyungsoo has been withheld from most of the outside world he is not the best with social groups or certain situations in public.
Kyungsoo can come off as quite stubborn, argumentative and standoffish because of his enclosed upbringing, often having no one to debate with he's never really found or been told he's wrong.
He is however rather kind and once you get to know him he'll happily give you the shirt off of his back should you ask for it. He's not sensitive over his blindness as he used to be and will often make jokes over the matter to try and make other people less sempathetic for him.
like the earth he bends he is a force to be reckoned with, hard to be moved and grounding to those around him. A good addition to any team or just as a friend.
