BACKGROUND
I was born calm and collected. My destiny is bull.
Born into a rich family, Jiyong grew up with everything. Basically hand-fed anything he could possibly want or need from birth, there wasn't really anything he /didn't/ have. However, his entire purpose in life-- the reason he was born in the first place-- was so that he could become the successor to his father's company. It was unusual for Jiyong to disobey his parents. He rarely said no and almost always said yes. His future was planned out for him since the day his mother was told she was having a boy. There was much to be expected of Jiyong because of this. He had to have the highest marks in his class, the charm and leadership of the student government, and the etiquette fit only for the elite. While Jiyong truly, with all of his being, wanted to please his parents, the stress and anxiety that had built up over the years was enough. Although he was yet again at the top of his class academically when he entered college, the people he met there changed his perspective. They showed him the wonders of music. Immediately interested, he began to compose his own music and lyrics when he wasn't studying, taking up the alias G-Dragon. Without his parents knowing, he began to spread his work as G-Dragon through the underground. Earning a name for himself. Realizing that having everything had numbed most of the wonders of life, Jiyong finally decided it was time to say no. The dinner after his graduation was when the baton was to be passed to Jiyong to take over the company. That is, until Jiyong turned down his father's offer. He told his father he wanted to pursue his own career as a singer or perhaps create his own business. He told his father he no longer wanted to be given everything in life, but he wanted to earn it for himself. Enraged, his father refused to let Jiyong go. He told him that the only reason he was born was to take over the company and that it wasn't something he could just give to Jiyong's younger sister. After much arguing, Jiyong was disowned and cut off from the family, much to his mother and sister's dismay. Everything he was given since the day he was born was stripped from him. Jiyong, however, who grew up with everything, became apathetic towards life. The disowning wasn't surprising, nor was it something he wasn't expecting. He became depressed, lonely, and indifferent towards the material world and even the social world. He had no ambition, no dreams, and no motivation because he always had access to everything and anything he wanted, so he had no need to try. Therefore, being kicked out of his rich household was the best thing to happen to him. Thankfully, he had made many close friends during college and he was able to stay with someone while he got on his feet. Majoring in business was a blessing since he could basically snag a job easily almost anywhere (that is, if it wasn't owned by his father). At some point he began working as a barista at a local cafe during the day and as a DJ at night (doing his usual work as the rising-star G-Dragon). After many months of hard work, he was finally able to save up enough to buy his own place-- a fairly nice apartment, and moved in. Now, after years of hard work and enough to settle on his own, he followed his own goals, eventually owning his own cafe-- working there full time during the day and even sometimes even throughout the night when he doesn't have a show at the night club. Now, his major issue is sruggling with his insomnia and a still very present loneliness. Because of his exhaustion he is usually very tired and agitated, still looking for a purpose in life now that he has made his life comfortable once again.
PERSONALITY
Growing up with everything has taken the joys and wonders of life away from Jiyong. Indifferent to most everything he encounters, there is little in this world that can surprise him, bring him happiness, sadness, or even rage. He gets little sleep, as he battles strongly with insomnia. He occasionally drinks alcohol at parties and he is a heavy smoker, a habit he picked up in High School when he was trying something new. When he's not out and about he spends most of his time reading a book in solitude. Despite his rather lavish upbringing, he is very modest and shy. He'd rather earn things through his own hard work rather than it be given to him. He wouldn't admit it out loud, especially since he was practically raised to be a charmer, but he dislikes large, over-bearing crowds of people. Introverted by nature, he prefers fewer people over many. He picks and chooses how he feels depending on the day. One day he could be the ever charming and passionate G-Dragon, the other he could be the shy, timid, and tired Jiyong. The only real thing he is really passionate about is music and perhaps his coffee. Creating music comes easy to him. It may even be his single passion in life. It's just another way to express himself. He's not out for fame or glory. Just looking for something interesting to do. To give his boring life meaning.
