born in gwangju, south korea, changkyun spent most of his life traveling with his father, as the man was a scientist and his work demanded him to travel around the world. he lived in boston for three years and israel for four years, and can speak english fluently.
in 2014, he was supposed to debut in another group called nu'bility, but it was later decided that they would not debut, and changkyun then joined starship entertainment, almost immediately being put into the survival tv show 'no mercy'. as soon as he joined, however, he was hardly accepted, and the other members weren't too happy with him being the newest trainee he was the sixth member to be announced as a member of monsta x. even so, he was still treated fairly bad, and it still affects him up to today, even though he has already been debuted with monsta x for three years now, and the members couldn't possibly love their maknae more. Never judge a book by their cover, as he may look happy and silly on the outside, but on the inside, he's secretly broken.
changkyun is rather shy and quiet off camera, mostly keeping to himself and not wanting to be a bother on others. on camera, however, he's silly and wild.
he loves gummy bears and gummy candy as a whole. his favorite color is white, and his favorite hobby is writing songs and listening to music.
