Ever since Mingming was a child, he always wanted to become an idol. Whether it was a Chinese or a Korean idol, it didn't matter to him. Because to him, he strongly believed that music was a universal language.
His dream began when he was watching the new years music award shows in hong kong from his television at home. He was amazed and was taken away by how heartfelt and touching dance and music were. Around this time, Mingming was around five or six years old.
HIs parents enrolled him in dance classes on the expectation that he would be able to dance and study at the same time. Of course, Ming Ming put his studies first then practiced his passion for dance before as his second priority.
Unlike those who were born with the innate talent to sing and dance, he struggled. In the beginning, he was always offbeat, missing one or two beats. His movements would be stiff and if he were to add singing into the mix it would be a circus show.
However, this did not stop mingming from wanting to pursue dance. While studying and being the first in his class, Mingming spent day and night for the next four years to become the best dancer he could become. He often would lose sleep or sometimes put off studying from time to time just to get one move down right.
Around the age of ten, mingming had reached his accomplishment, after five years of dancing and self-teaching himself how to read music, he won his first regional dance competition.
His parents saw how passionate Mingming was and enrolled him in singing classes so that he could properly learn how to sing and dance at the same time.
Around the age of thirteen Mingming had won around ten regional dance competitions, two national dance competitions, and two singing competitions. And also around this age mingming was recruited by his first company.
It was a very big entertainment company and a successful one at that. He was given the opportunity to sign with the company for two to seven years but decided to sign for two years to see how he liked it. And with his parents' support and approval he signed.
However, Mingming's joy did not last long. The company was strict and at some points, the training would not allow him to go to school. Being the new trainee who did not audition regularly like the others, many of the other trainees looked at mingming in an unfavorable and jealous light. Often times they would bully him by throwing his clothes into dirty water, cutting up his shoes, and locking him in a bathroom stall.
Which ultimately lead him to drop out of the company as soon as his contract ended. He was then recruited by three other companies before reaching his fourth company at the age of sixteen.
This time, mingming was determined to debut, his family had been supporting him ever since he was five years old, and supported him for the last fifteen years. He couldn't disappoint them this time.
The company was a Korean Entertainment company and was also very big. He signed with them for two years and by the end of his first year, the company told him that he would be training to debut in a group for the company.
However, while mingming was excited, there was a catch. He had to participate in a survival show for a chance to debut in the group. Many of the other trainees who were given the opportunity to debut in this group were all very popular and well-known trainees who had been training with the company for three to seven years.
He would be the only one on the show with a year of training with the company.
However, he wanted to debut, he wanted to show his family he could debut. His family was waiting for him in China so that he could tell them that he will be debuting soon.
The survival show contained fifty trainees and in the end, only six of the trainees will be debuting. Due to his hard work and dedication showed throughout the show, it allowed Mingming to reach the finals.
He was in the top ten of the trainees and had passed the previous elimination rounds. The final battle was recorded live but unfortunately, Mingming was ranked at number seven, he was only one spot off from making it into the final lineup.
He broke down into tears that day, his family had flown all the way from Beijing to see the finale and he had lost. He could see their sadden faces, the faces of how his parents felt as if they had failed him. But he had actually felt that he failed his parents.
At the contract renewal with the company ended, it was revealed to Mingming that if he were to sign another contract but this time for a period four years, he would debut in a group.
However, he couldn't wait four years, he needed to debut as soon as possible for his family. He wanted to debut for them and so he left the company and auditioned for Giddae entertainment but was unfortunately rejected. Then he auditioned for One Music and was accepted.
