his story, in short
victoria song was born song qian, daughter of two political spearheads in china. at a young age, her father's position sent the family to america for a few years, where she adopted a new first name, victoria, and it seemed to stick long after her family moved back to china. growing up, her parents were very strict, practically forcing her into good behavior and keeping a team of people around to watch her every move so she couldn't possibly get into any trouble. all eyes were on her as an important face of chinese politics, and to be frank, she hated it. no matter how many times she wanted to run away, lash out, or do something to defy her parent's wishes, she just...couldn't — at least until she went away to college. at the age of 19, she was off, deciding to move away to america. the only way her father actually allowed her to go, though, was if she studied politics, so she could pass on the family's name with a position of political prowess once her parents weren't around any more.
while she was living in america, she met a man from south korea who immediately piqued her interest. the two started to date, and after they each graduated from college, she ran away with him back to his home country, despite her father's other plans for her. she didn't care what her father wanted, of course, and after many failed attempts to get her to return home, he finally gave up, concluding that victoria was never welcome to return to china. she and her south korean prince didn't stay together for long, though, after running away together. she coudln't go back to her parents, so she decided to stay in seoul, using what she learned in college to start an animal rescue non-profit, only needing a few months for it to really take off and become successful. in the midst of her success, she met a new prince charming named choi seunghyun, who was a much better catch than the first.
