jaekyung grew up in a strict family, parents deeply entangled with the government of korea. her parents are big figures in the political world, her younger brother, jaehyun, also studying politics in college. jaekyung had been on the way to be a lawyer, parents already confident that she's going to become one of the best politicians to ever existed. she is almost what you'd call a genius, but politics isn't where her heart is.
without her family's permission, right after she graduated from law school as one of the top students, she ran away from their mansion to train as a soldier. her parents were furious, of course, but jaekyung didn't come back no matter how much they wanted her to. the whole of south korea knew of this, and they didn't give up on making her come back.
during training, jaekyung had been looked down as she was a woman, mostly surrounded by men during training. she didn't let this faze her, however, and she used their words against her as her fuel to improve. it didn't take her long to prove them wrong. she showed talent, prowess in the world of combat. she quickly proved that she's better than most of her peers, and after her first mission, they'd been allowed to go home.
when she came back home, her parents had scolded her, rather than being glad for her still being alive. her brother is the only one who had been concerned to her. jaekyung made her brother her reason to survive another war.
jaekyung quickly climbed up the ranks, becoming a brigadier general at the age of 21. she wasn't one who followed orders if she didn't think it was right, and the higher-ups grew scared of her, feared that she might rebel somehow against them, and so they framed her for a crime she would never do - murder a civilian, a citizen of the country she swore to protect.
all the evidences had pointed to her, and she had no other way to prove herself innocent. on the day before her execution, she was given a choice to either die or join "the game." with a clear goal for revenge in her mind, she chose the game and decided to work her way from down there.

if people were to describe jaekyung in a few words, it would be that she fights for what she truly believes in. she isn't the type to give up, and she does everything in her power to make the impossible possible. even if her strong-will just becomes stubbornness in the end, she doesn't care as long as she reaches her goal. she's the type of person that once she finds something she wants, she gives it her all no matter what.
she likes to believe she's fair, and due to her studying law back in college, she tries to know every side of a story before she comes to a decision. she doesn't do anything that won't benefit her in the long run, and so she tries to think of all the consequences before she decides onto something. as a soldier, she cares for others more than herself, and she won't hesitate to lay her life for someone she barely knows.
She doesn't like opening up about herself, and she tends to keep her problems and goals to herself. she is extremely secretive - and the only way to make her talk sometimes is to make her drunk (which will be hard, as she tries not to drink as much). she doesn't trust that easily, and she chooses really carefully who she decides to trust. she's both calculative and manipulative, as she uses the knowledge she has to turn the situation up to her advantage if she can help it.
