personality
Hyukjae has an identity disorder; he's convinced he's a human. Despite his obvious monkey tail, he's quite adamant in this belief. He can and will argue with you all day about it. If you bring up the tail, he never has a satisfying answer, and the excuse is always changing. In fact, he's been known to hide the tail within his clothing just to avoid the question. Unfortunately this does mess with his balance a bit, so he only hides it on days when he's in a particularly disagreeable mood, or when he's out for auditions because he's learned the hard way that having a tail can cause problems in those sorts of settings.
Although he can be stubborn and argumentative when he has his mind set on something, when he doesn't he's incredibly gullible. He's often had pranks pulled on him by others due to this. He's also incredibly sensitive and is quicker to tears than he thinks a man should be, but actually expressing his feelings and emotions is like having constipation. Whenever he has to talk about feelings, he gets really quiet and has a nervous habit of rubbing circles in the birthmark on his right palm, or wrapping his tail tightly around things. He also cares deeply about others. Even if they hold no relation or special connection to him, if he sees someone in distress, he can't help but try to cheer them up.
His favorite hobbies are dancing, collecting snails, doing little things for people, and drinking all the strawberry milk. He also thinks he works here.
background
When a hybrid is thoroughly convinced he's human, it's understandably difficult to own him as a pet.  As a child and even as a teenager, Hyukjae was passed from home to home.  He called it foster care.  The reality was that nobody wanted an extra child, and he was too much of a handful to keep as a pet.  At some point he lost count of how many different families he's lived with.  At an even earlier point, he stopped trying to get close to them, knowing they'd all deem him a burden in the end anyway.
Dancing has been a passion of Hyukjae's since as long ago as he can remember.  His unacknowledged monkey side gives him a particular grace and agility that mean movements like dancing come as naturally to him as breathing.  He always knew he wanted to be a famous dancer when he grew up, so whenever his "caregivers" (owners) allowed it, he'd take dance classes, and when they didn't he'd sneak out and go to them anyway.  When he reached his late teens, he finally got fed up with going from home to home and decided to tough it out on the streets.  He thought this newfound independence would make him feel more human than ever, but the opposite happened; people treated him like the very dirt under their feet, and even worse when he tried to tell them he was human just like them. Apparently, trying to live a normal life was "overstepping his boundaries."  There were plenty of people who tried to put him in his place.  No one seemed to want to give him a job, and for a while he had to even beg for food.  Not being able to support himself meant he was essentially homeless for a while, and regular homeless shelters shunned him because they "weren't for him, he should check out the hybrid shelter across town."
In his early twenties, a young man around his age took him in.  Their arrangement lasted for a longer time than any of the families he'd previously lived with, because the man didn't treat Hyukjae like a hybrid.  He didn't want a pet, he just wanted a friend and roommate to share his lonely apartment with.  Thriving on their mutual respect, the two grew an incredibly close friendship.  His friend was always very supportive of Hyukjae and his ambitions.  Even though Hyukjae couldn't get a job, he supported his pursuit of dance, helping him get into dance classes and workshops and cheering him on for every audition he went to.  He'd watch intently every time Hyukjae perfected a new dance move, and was always there to lean on whenever he couldn't quite make it.  With every audition he failed, his friend was always there to pick up the pieces and comfort him.  Eventually, Hyukjae fell in love with his friend, but his feelings weren't reciprocated, and over time it strained their relationship to the point that he had to move out.
After that, he was homeless for a short while again until Youngbin took him in.  However, instead of categorizing himself with the other hybrids as a misfit waiting to be adopted, he's completely convinced that he works part-time for Youngbin, helping him look after the shop and take care of all the hybrids.  He takes the job pretty seriously, despite the fact that he's not getting paid for it, but it's not so bad because he gets room and board and he actually enjoys caring for others.
Despite Hyukjae's incredible talent in dancing, he did fail every single audition.  He could never understand why, because nobody wanted to sign a hybrid to their label (but he wasn't a hybrid, of course).  Nobody wanted the kind of complications such an unconventional dancer would bring, however talented he might be.  At his dance classes and auditions, he was the subject of countless incidents of hatred, prejudice, and plenty of outright bullying, both emotional and physical.  He grew used to it and never let it deter him.  Back when he was around twenty and still living on the streets, he entered in various underground dance battles, and he did manage to join a street dance crew for a while, but they weren't very successful. They never made any money, and Hyukjae always ended up becoming the scapegoat, getting blamed for everything that went wrong, including why nobody wanted to see them dance.  In the end he was violently forced out of the crew.
Since then he's avoided the underground dance scene, but to this day he still tries his best for every audition he learns about, no matter how small the company.  He practices for several hours every day, and if you go in his room, he has one wall set up entirely with mirrors to make it like a mini dance studio.  That way he doesn't have to bother anyone by using up another room, or deal with rental studios he can't afford, or public studios where he'll face all sorts of prejudice.  He's still holding onto that bleak hope that someday, before he gets too old, some company will sign him on and he'll finally feel the thrill of dancing on a real stage under a real spotlight, with the stage name he's had picked out since he was twelve: Eunhyuk.

Biggest Fan // nostalgia + angst + others? // for human // available
You and Hyukjae were roommates and best friends for most of his twenties. It's been a couple years since you've seen him, and you parted on awkward terms, but when you run into him again all sorts of memories come flooding in. You wonder how he's doing and if he's still going to auditions.
//Additional Info: Possible romance plot. Possible adoption plot. Otherwise open to this turning back into a good friendship or to it being super awkward and angsty instead. Read the background info before asking about this one.

Underground // drama // for dancer // available
You overhear him mention his stage name Eunhyuk, and it rings a bell; back ten years or so, he was in the underground dance scene and you think you saw him there. Once you see him dance, it's confirmed, and his talent is crazy. You want him to join a dance battle, or you're putting together a crew and really want him on it. He's adamant against it, but you want to convince him somehow.
//Additional Info: Works for either human or hybrid, but if it's a hybrid dance team he'll be extra opposed, so that might be even more fun. Read the background info before asking about ths one.

May I? // drama + fluff // for hybrid // available
You guys get along really well, and Hyuk has a soft spot for whatever troubles you've been through. He wants to adopt you. Youngbin says no, for obvious reasons. You knew all along that it was impossible, but you humored Hyuk anyway because you have a soft spot for him too, and you're fine with just being normal friends here at the shop.
//Additional Info: They've gotta be really close to get to this point because even though Hyuk thinks he's human, he's never considered owning a pet himself. This can either be a best friends plot or a possible romance plot further down the line.

Flavors // fluff // for anyone // available
You and Hyuk end up in a heated discussion about food, bonding over a ridiculous amount of various flavored milks because they're his favorite and because Hyuk refuses to drink alcohol. You'll probably both have stomachaches later, but who cares? You haven't laughed this much in ages.
//Additional Info: Works great for a first meeting or just getting to know each other plot. :) You can also spike the milk if you wanna spice it up a little.
