Byun baekhyun's life never had that coming-of-age filter conveniently placed on top. rather, he hosted a series of misfortunes that forced him into the position he's currently in. it all began when his mother died. his father spiraled into depression and alcoholism. baekhyun couldn't blame him. baekhyun's mother was irreplacable. she was kind, gentle, and had a heavenly voice.

he thought his father's alcoholism would be a mere phase of grief, but months passed. those months turned into yeasr, and baekhyun was left to fend for himself as a teenager. There were good days and the were bad days. on the worst days, baekhyun would go to sleep with a bruised body and a broken soul. his father certainly was not a bad man. in fact, he couldn't be better. sure, he had his flaws, but his father was incredibly supportive when he could. however, his father needed a way to cope and he found his comfort in the burn of whiskey as it cascaded down his throat. 

his saving grace was university where he found his passion for child therapy and the ability to prevent troubled youth from becoming like him: broken. originally, he thought the best way to help children was to be a teacher for them. however, he quickly found out that there was only so much he could do to help them in that position. he didn't want to overstep his boundaries. thus, he decided to follow a new path. today, he uses his education and job as a youth social worker to assist children in non-ideal situations.
