"vanity is everything."

inexplicitly, these are the words that jang wonyoung learns as she grows up. as a young girl, she always saw her mother taking what felt like hours on her makeup at any occasion, whether it was before a party or before she went to the office for work. as a kid who was mostly unsupervised, wonyoung couldn't help but be immersed in the media around her, from things in the news to videos and movies - and she got the same resounding message. being kind and having a nice personality was appreciated, however.. being pretty and knowing to use your charm trumped all of that. society just reacts that way, even when it comes to opportunities for things where skill should only matter, like regular jobs… everything is influenced by appearance. therefore, wonyoung decided that to have a good future, she needed to be as attractive as she could for a girl her age. that's how wonyoung begins dieting at the age of 12, along with starting an intensive skincare routine. it's what causes her to look very mature for her age, although she doesn't just look mature - she is quite mature for someone her age, even though she doesn't really show it due to her happy-go-lucky outside.

 

wonyoung’s main reason for choosing the path of a trainee is probably the fact that she has heard she has an idol-like feel multiple times, and.. well, if she's pretty than she may as well use it and get some money out of it, that is the reason why she has such a focus on vanity and her looks to begin with. she's too young to get an actual job anyways, so she’d rather manage to make money in some way and help her family out as the oldest sister in it.

Personality:

Wonyoung is generally quite bright, and she shows a lot of concern and consideration towards others (in most situations, at least). however, despite all of the sweetness she likes displaying on the outside, she's honestly quite judgemental in very shallow ways, basing first impressions off of looks, finding someone less desirable as a friend if they don't put a lot of effort into their looks, and a lot of looking down on people who don't meet her standards. although, this also means her standards are high for herself, which is why you'll usually find herself overworking her body or on some random fad diet.
