about me

for almost as long as kim won has been born, he knew the feeling of loneliness. his family has always been fixed on his older brother, even after won's birth. his brother is just.. very smart, something that you'd call a golden boy. needless to say, they spent their time adoring him and his many accomplishments, while expectations were set high on won from the start. now, when you're younger.. it's easy to make a lot of dumb mistakes, and at first they were just excused as dumb mistakes. until his report cards would come back with just.. average marks. while he wasn't even close to failing, he was a problem child in his parents eyes, and his every small action was a cause for concern and scrutiny. they needed another person like his older brother, had expected to won be like that- but instead he was average to a point that he became a failure in their eyes. it made him the receiving end of a bunch of frustration, and hate. he still can remember detailedly how relatives and some family friends gossiped about how lacking he was compared to his older brother, and about how he was a problem for his parents-- won can't rebut it, even to this day. he's sure his parents were the ones who said those words in the first place, after all. the pattern of him being lacking didn't change with time- maybe it even got worse. once his younger sister was born, his parents seemed to just forget about his existence. his older brother was too busy with all of his homework to care, and won appreciated the lack of criticism for once. but it didn't last long- with a 3rd child now too, more stress was inserted into his parents lives. they needed a good way to take it out, but all they did was just yell at each other in the wee hours of the morning, and it frustrated them more. they just needed a good way to take out their stress- and they ended up finding that the perfect target of their stress was won himself, as won had given them a bunch of stress too. it was also a convenience that won's school started the latest out of the 3 children, giving them a perfect time to let everything out before going to work and without worrying the other kids. won remembers how loudly they'd yell at him, and the impact of their strong blows.. it'd get worse the days that he had tests, or after his report card came out- because he was always /average/ and that was something to be punished for. that's what he learnt. the gossip would follow won once again, now at school. people were theorizing he had some evil alter ego and was in a gang, and that's why he always had marks and bruises on him. needless to say, the kids started to stay very far from him after the rumors spread around. he spent most of his childhood like that, tormented and alone. It was only after he graduated high school with marks that could rival his brothers (not like his parents cared much, though- they were too busy tending to his cute little sister, which he can't fault them for), that he realized how much of a mess his world had become. sleep was like a myth, and the only things left in himself were feelings of doubt and anxiety- because even when he did well, he knew he could never be perfect, and that the world, and his parents would only love a "perfect" won. he still believes that to this day, but he decided that he should at least pretend to be happy, for the sake of people around him who keep asking him things in worry. he wanted to pick up pieces of hope and at least think that the future could be better. one of the many chances he made during this process was changing his name from kim won to kim shihyun, to signify a new start. a changed life, one of success and happiness.

extra facts

- HE HATES LOUD NOISES BECAUSE OF HIS PAST. TOO many of them in a row make him extremely stressed, usually sending him into panic. He tries to do whatever he can to prevent these episodes from occuring, though, as he doesn't want to worry others.

- although his family is well off, he only gets a small amount of allowance to live off of- a lot less than he actually needs, so he takes up a bunch of part time jobs whenever he has enough free time for it.

- due to that, he usually just lives off of one ramyun packet per day, as he needs to save money for important things like good equipment.

- he has a tendency to be extremely nervous with new people, although over the years he's grown better at hiding it.

- in high school, he was an extreme mess- he was extremely scared of almost everyone and everything (something that kinda still is part of him now, just better controlled) and extremely depressed (another thing that is technically still here with him now, just hidden better and less worrying of a case.)
