History.
Born in Seoul, South Korea in 1966 to half-blood parents, Kim Minji spent her formative years among muggles. As a child, she knew her father to be an archaeologist and her mother to be a poet. Once Minji was old enough to enter primary school, she and her family were rarely settled for long.
Because of the frequent moves, her closest “friend” for many years was the family dog, until the family moved to Dorset in 1976. The addition of Minji's younger brother to the family the following year ensured that they would at last stay put. It was shortly after that when Minji awoke to find her hair had seemingly transformed over night into a shock of long, white locks.
Minji’s parents, while pleased to learn their daughter was a competent witch, were surprised by their daughter's abilities as a metamorphmagus. It was Minji's mother who made certain to begin educating young Minji enough to prepare her for her future education. However, while Minji's mother was educating her and introducing her to the wizarding world in Britain, Minji's father was contemplating moving his family back to Seoul.
However, the actions of one dark wizard made returning to Seoul impossible. While the Kim family had moved to Britain during a dark time, the war would reach its before the family was able to escape the country.
In 1980, Minji received her acceptance letter to Hogwarts. She was sorted into Gryffindor, a fact which would surprise no one when the young witch was befriending a host of dangerous magical creatures rather than her fellow classmates. The war would shape Minji and the rest of her classmates for the better. It was the upperclassmen who would have to bear the scars of war.
Despite her bravery, there were three events which would come to define her own Hogwarts experience. The first was her first, teenage crush—an unrequited love as a second year which would fuel her emotional development. The second and third would not happen until her sixth year. Minji's father passed away due to heart failure at the beginning of her sixth year at Hogwarts. Unfortunately, her mother died of a broken heart the following month.
Minjun, only eight years old at the time, was taken in by a second cousin. Minji was given the promise that she would be allowed to finish her time at Hogwarts. The day after her graduation, however, Minji became responsible for her younger brother.
She took a correspondence course, cleaned muggle homes in the city on the weekends, and was a mixologist at a wizarding bar week nights in order to take care of her younger brother. Without knowing if Minjun would display magical powers, she raised him in both worlds. She was more mother than older sister to him, and for a long time she put aside her past in favor of his wellbeing.
It wasn't until Minjun was accepted into Hogwarts that Minji was offered an assistant teaching position at the school. Now, after returning to the place she grew up, Minji will have to confront her past. The question now, is whether or not she truly matured all those years ago.
