Section oo1 : history / about

Fortresses. Ever since he was a child, Dongwoon was fascinated with the structures. They were indestructible: they withstood time, they withstood the waves of the sea that crashed on their stone walls, and they withstood rocks that seemed to fall from the sky. Damaged in the aftermath, but it stood tall.

From this perhaps, he developed the same mentality: a mentality of fortitude. He didn't realize it, but he became one relentless kid. Helped him enough.

His family was full of businesspeople (who he liked to refer to as snakes) may it be from owning clothing lines to owning hotels. For his family's case, a resort. Now, his father focused on the business. Him? He focused on trying to get his hands on it. He, after all, had competition: his older brother. If he wanted to get the business, he'd have to work his off with twice the effort. The eldest child always got the stuff, no? This was quite the noticeable thing- and his brother ended up hating his guts. It was mutual anyway; they never got along well, but he still wanted to be close.

By the time he got into a university for business administration, he was lucky enough his aunt had connections to letting him get into one. Not that he wasn't smart enough for it, he was just too young for it. His mother was too distracted about having another kid to show off that she just had to put him in school a year earlier. Rough start with the rush, but hey, he wasn't complaining. At least his father thinks he was one good kid.

Next bump in his life was making a thesis. No, the problem wasn't making it, the problem was the people he worked with. Oh, they were close. They were too close, too comfortable, and too lax that they left all the work to him. He wasn't mad, but he needed to at least teach them a lesson. So, a few days before their final defence, he did an anonymous appeal to the professors saying he had a problem in cooperation and he stated the thesis title.

News flash: two is obviously better than one. By the time his trio for the thesis got confronted after the defence, he was so confident- but he didn't expect his own friends to go against him and tell the professors that he was the one who just hung around.

Pissed, but getting the degree was the important part here. Got points deducted from his score, but the degree here was important. He let it pass. He thought seeing the big picture was important, not the details.

After getting it, howerver, he figured enlisting was probably better done if he did it sooner. After two years, he'd be sitting on his leather chair minding his own business. Literally.

Surprise surprise, amidst his service some freak accident most probably orchestrated by one of his uncles, had killed his father. Man, was he expecting it one way or another. Businesses were dirty things. Good thing his father left a will- the old man knew it was coming.  Maybe it wasn't a surprise to him after all.

But the whole resort left to his name? Now that was a shocker. Not for him, but for the rest of the greedy human skin-wearing reptilians he had for relatives.

When he got out of the military, fortunately with only one bullet wound from his buddy's crappy eyesight, he started to run the resort with his own hands- and a lot of eyes and hands trying to get a grip on his property. First it was only his brother, but it grew to perhaps, most of the people he knew the names of. Most of his cousins and uncles, really. He didn't mind, they were still "family".

At some point in his mid twenties, he thought he found "the one". Oh she was the one, alright. She ended up being the one who'd it all up for him. It was all good at first, he thought it was real. Heck, he even made the efforts of being a father to her kid. He was too whipped, just too much he ended up marrying her. What could go wrong? He thought back then. Happiness clouded his eyes from the sickly truth.

His future that he saw were akin to marmalade-painted skies and soft moments with her, in reality, when it finally came crashing to him, were more akin to a three year old smearing orange segments on the wall... and divorce papers taking his resort away from his hands six years in.

How could he not have seen it coming. Everyone wanted the only important thing he had left.

He had crappy relatives, his brother hated him, his friends have used him, and now this. He ended up fighting with her. It wasn't that bad, he just wanted reasons as to why she went that far. Taking in the phrase of  "isn't it obvious by now" really didn't help make him calm. That was it, he snapped. After all those years, all the madness he kept inside finally broke out. At some point in the fight, she ended up falling back into a glass table and one point just lodged itself into her skull.

He calls the ambulance, the police and then turns himself in. His new and better lawyers manage to pull it off as a crime of passion and he pulled off the role of a person with regret for his actions in front of the judge. He would spend three years in prison for manslaughter. Three years trying to think of what the he'd do when he gets out.

When he finally did, maybe he was just meant to mind his own business again (and maybe his stepdaughter). But this time, with his guard up. That was it. He was indestructible. He needed to be.
