"suddenly, without a warning, a star was born."

This is what his mother used to say about him. november 25, 2001, sean charles lew was born the youngest son in his chinese-japanese family. his father the owner of a law firm, and his mother, the president of a renowned record company. 

in his youth, sean lived in two worlds: the logical world which could always be explained ruled by his father, and the free realm where expression was the norm with his mother.

he had always been a smart, precocious child, thanks to his father who had him reciting trigonometric identities before he even stepped foot into kindergarten.  his mother, on the other hand, had always pruned his creative side. 

he started dancing when he was six years old. 

his mother had a favor from mia michaels, one of the most sought after dance teachers and choreographers in the world. she had watched how her son sat, encaptured by how the dancers on tv moved their bodies, as though one with the music. how lucky he was, to say he had his first dance lesson with the mia michaels. 

he fell in love. 

the way he blended with the music, the satisfaction of hitting the perfect beat, the exhilaration of perfecting his triple pirouette. he soon discovered other loves: singing, photography, acting. the limit did not exist: everything he wanted, he did. nothing stopped him, except his father.

to his logical and intelligent father, dance was nothing more than a hobby. but to sean, it was his reason for breathing. his passion. what he looked forward to every living day. 

he ached for the spotlight. for the stage, for the screen. but still, it would never be sufficient for his father. 

and so, sean continues to live in two separate universes, two people. who he really is is a sensitive introvert, a passionate boy who loves music and dancing. a boy with so much to say and to feel, and can't help but share it. then there is who his father expects him to be, a fearless extrovert who needs to build a network to be successful, a boy on the road to law school. 

but at the end of the day, who is he really? is he nothing more than the image that he portrays to people? 

throughout his school, sean is well-known for his availibility to help anyone and everyone who asks, for his shy yet capturing smile, for his dancing skills that could be good enough to get anywhere. but on the inside, sean is an artist, aching to escape.
