Go Kyungpyo or King Pyo.

These are names that were well-known across the classical music world for years and, in smaller circles, are still well-revered to this day. Unfortunately, even the brightest stars can fizzle out.

Kyungpyo's prolific career as a a genre-fusing violinist started when he was only around 5 years old. He was a sickly child for the first few years of his life and started playing the violin in his parents' effort to improve his coordination and the physical strength in his hands. His father was a classical cellist so the little boy took to it almost immediately because he loved to do whatever the older man was doing.

Turns out, once his physical condition improved, that Kyungpyo was quite good at it; especially for his age. Various home videos sent to talent shows by prideful extended family and friends eventually landed Kyungpyo his first television appearance for impressive, even prodigial, kids. From there, he blew up.

He made various television appearances over the years. He could play any genre, had near perfect pitch, and he wasn't afraid to show off or freestyle, even from a young age. By the time that he was 17, Kyungpyo had made a major name for himself. In that time, he'd found his own style which fused classical, modern, and pop elements and he was somewhat a violin rock star. This god-like status, unfortunately, came with a ton of stress and pressure and Kyungpyo turned to drinking to deal with those negative stressors.

By 21, he'd developed a dependancy and, despite his ability to put on a happy facade and fool the public into thinking he was as normal as ever, that addiction led to a major car accident. Nearly killing another person and himself was the turning point that got Kyungpyo to change his habits and put himself into rehab but, by then, his career was already in the toilet. Even though he'd gotten sober and become a new person, he was a public enemy and couldn't show himself in the spotlight anymore.

"King Pyo" was no more and Kyungpyo began to lead a normal life. He'd never had an actual job, outside of being a performer, and was unemployed for a while. He leaned on his parents quite heavily and always felt incredibly guilty when he recieved rejections from potential employers. Eventually, though, Kyungpyo got a job with Elevate when the company was in its beginning stages. Things were starting to look up in the time following. He had a solid job, he found love, and even had a child with said girlfriend at 25.

Things were nice but there were issues brewing as the couple grew apart. Kyungpyo was a workaholic and the girl who he had yet to propose to was restless. She cheated on him and, after many heated arguements over several tense days, they broke up. To save little sua at least some of the heartache and stress of her parents splitting, he didn't fight for custody and settled for occassional visits. It's better this way, he often reasons with himself, because his job doesn't give much room for him to be the attentive parent his daughter needs. Deep down, however, it's because he's paranoid and always afraid of somehow getting himself into further trouble, ultimately letting and dragging her down.

Description

❝ Great Escape ❞ | Plot
⤠ male/female/enby (2 spots)
⤠ trainee (or artist, as applicable)

⤠ Without a group to be assigned to quite yet, the managerial staff always draw straws and decide who'll leave the comforts of their own home to sleep in the little unit reserved in trainee building to watch over the kids for the night. It's thankless work, what with the this-is-temporary floor mattress and the paper-thin walls but it's Kyungpyo's turn tonight and he can't even spill his usual excuse since Sua's with her mom for the week. Unable to sleep, he makes the journey out to the convenience store across the street. Or, he starts to, when he's met with someone that should definitely be asleep sneaking out. (We can take this in many directions tbh, my initial vision is anxious/cold feet and gotta get out to breathe for a while, i.e. a nice soft mentor/mentee plot BUT he could also be stopping someone sneaking out for other reasons)

❝ We Only See Each Other at Recitals and...❞ | Connection
⤠ female (1 spot)
⤠ any walk of life outside of trainee/artist

⤠ It's crazy to believe that a relationship can ever turn sour when you're in the honeymoon phase, but all things must come to a reality-reminding, screeching halt. You and Kyungpyo were in love at one point, you were ecstatic when Sua was born, but busy careers forced a wedge between the two of you that got steadily larger as time went on. One night of loneliness and restlessness turned into many, and when the affair reached Kyungpyo, he couldn't find it in himself to be angry. Hurt, yes. Genuinely frustrated with himself for the hurt caused, yes. Eventually, you two split and only see each other when necessary.

❝ Tears of a Violin ❞ | Plot
⤠ male/female/enby (1 spot)
⤠ any walk of life outside of fan

⤠ After everything caved in for Kyungpyo career-wise, he refused to touch another instrument; especially his beloved violin that had been gifting to him by his mother. He'd let her down and couldn't bear the way the little wooden thing reminded him of that. Be it the "King Pyo" burned into the base or the way the bow felt utterly wrong gripped in his left hand, everything felt wrong and he tucked the thing away in his closet for good, resolving simply to never play again. Recently, though, Kyungpyo's found a new resolve and unearthed the dusty thing. The only issue is, while he's slowly grown to feel right holding the violin again, he can't seem to find his usual spark. King Pyo was legendary. All of his songs were happy and fun, blending genres and breeding inspiration in others. Kyungpyo today can't even eek a single cheerful note. All he can seem to play are sad songs; one of which you happen to hear ghosting through the company halls late one night.
