HISTORY.

On Christmas day, 1999, famous theatre and film composer-duo Park Chin-Hwa and Lee Eun-jeong welcomed a baby prematurely into the world. For the first few months of his life, things were touch and go for tiny Jaejung and his parents constantly worried about his survival. However, within the year, Jaejung would grow to be much healthier and stronger and prove himself to be a major fighter.

As he grew up, Jaejung was always exposed to instrumental music because of his parents' profession. He was a sickly child and unable to do most strenuous activities so he would often sit in on his parent's work sessions, rehearsals, and just about anything that he was allowed to. This sparked a love for the art in the young boy. With parents like Park Chin-Hwa and Lee Eun-jeong, it was widely expected of Jaejung to join the industry as well and from an early age, he took to learning violin, clarinet, piano, guitar, and various jungmal. By the time that he was 12, he started getting vocal lessons as well. Even though his parents wanted what was best for their son and for him to do exactly and everything he wanted, the pressure was always on Jaejung to become a composer or a classical musician from both outside parties and himself. But composition is harder than one may think and he never enjoyed the lessons he took for classical piano.

When his family moved to Florida so that he could go through middle and high school abroad, Jaejung found his calling through very different genres of music: jazz, soul, and folk. He found them much more enjoyable to play and sing and liked how every song told a story, no matter how simple. Now playing the music he loved, Jaejung proved to be quite talented, prodigial even.

Upon graduating, Jaejung had the option to go to any music school he wanted, but he chose to take a gap year. He wanted to return to South Korea and just enjoy everything his native country had to offer. In that time, a friend of his brought a new show to his attention: StarmaKer. The brand new competition show was recruiting singers and, deciding that a gap year was meant for trying new and potentially crazy things, Jaejung auditioned for it. He got in and would even make his way through to the final episode where he placed second. Even though he didn't win the competition, Jaejung was scouted by numerous entertainment companies and he eventually chose Elevate. His endgame dream is being a successful soloist. It might not happen right away, he knows that, but he was raised believing he could do anything and that mindset hasn't left him.

PERSONALITY.

Personality-wise, Jaejung is very friendly but he has awkward tendencies. He stayed home often as a kid, so he's kind of an introvert or a homebody and not the best when it comes to meeting people for the first time. It's kind of a struggle for him to hold a conversation once he runs out of small talk, especially if the other person isn't much of a talker themselves. He'll almost never just talk about himself unprompted and that usually leads to the conversation only being about the other person, making it (you guess it!) awkward. On a good social day, Jaejung is one of those quiet people that's surprisingly witty and funny. Aside from doing music, he likes playing arcade games, doing karaoke, bowling, and swimming. With his gap year over, he also goes to university part time, studying Applied Music.

OOC + PLOTS.

Out of Character

00. Hey, hi! I'm bri, but feel free to call me by my character's name or my u/n.
01. i definitely prefer plot over wing and PMs over wall so I can keep track of it all. i do expect some cooperation when it comes to plotting as well. i want us to have a plot that we're both happy with. otherwise, it's no fun for someone. if you don't like something/something doesn't work with your character, tell me and i'd do the same.
02. i prefer 3rd, paragraph but nothing incredibly long. two or three solid ones are perfectly fine.
03. reply speed varies because i like to give my best and i might be held up with school stuff or just not having an idea of what to say right away. i'm a writing tutor and I proofread a lot of papers, so sometimes writing for rpr is just hard because i get burnt out. you don't have to poke me, i'm literally always thinking about it when i haven't replied and i promise to get back to you.
04. if you feel like we need to work out some kinks, get back on track, or completely overhaul because the plot is straying or dying a bit, tell me! i'd do the same for you. we can figure it out together. team work makes the dream work, my dudes.
05. i don't plot budding romance, that has to come naturally between our characters. however, if it's something in the past or already established, that's fine by me. i rarely rp with guys and, honestly, i don't see the need for it most of the time anyway. so is out of the question.
06. finally, when it comes to starting, i don't do any of that "you ask, you start" stuff. if it makes sense for the plot to start with a certain character, that's who should start.

Plots

[Post-StarmaKer | M/F | 0/2 | Open] You and Jaejung were co-contestants on StarmaKer and the two of you meet again for the first time since you left the show. Were you close during the show's run? Rivals? Do you resent him for placing higher than you or are you proud of his progress? It's up to you and so is how you react to seeing him again since then.

[Homebody | M/F | 0/2 | Open ] It's no secret: Park Jaejung is a major introvert. He prefers being holed up in his room, working on music, watching movies, or playing video games - anything that avoids social interaction, really. Worried about your friend/fellow trainee/roommate, you decide to get him out of the house and into the world for a day/night on the town.

[Imperfect Perfectionist | M/F | 0/1 | Open ] Jaejung's parents are renowned for their musical prowess and, even though they never pressure him, Jaejung can't help but feel the need to follow directly in their footsteps in terms of success. He's so good at what he does because of hours and hours of practice, but things don't always go as desired. He's been trying to compose this one song for quite a while now and it's just not coming together. You catch him in the middle of a self depreciative episode.

[Diffident Voice| M/F | 0/1 | Open] Even though he competed on national television, Jaejung still gets a little shy about performing in front of people, especially when he initially thought he was alone. This is especially so when he's performing songs that mean a lot to him. You happen to walk in on him during one of these times.
