Jade was born in raised on a small island just off the coast of America until she was thirteen years old. Up till that point her life was seemingly normal for her as normal as things could be for a kid growing up in the slums. Drugs and violence surrounded her as a child and that was her normal. Her parents tried their best to keep it away from her but even they succumbed to the toxic lifestyle. Money got tight. Her mother was a regular user and her father was a dealer, it often caused fights between the two and sometimes it got physical. They were too caught up in their own heads, they couldn’t even see what it was doing to their daughter. It was bound to happen at some point , her father left, unable to take the stress of having to care for a family and a psychotic wife. When the divorce was finalized, her mother gained full custody of her and from that moment on, Jade despised her and everything she was.

Eventually her mom found someone just like her; he was tall and handsome-but what made them so alike is that he too was a user. That’s when Jades world flipped entirely, everything she knew was taken from her. Turns out this guy was in debt to the point that he was being hunted down and so they fled, they fled the ing country and moved to the quiet town of Magnolia. Things got better money wise for their broken family but money did little to heal Jade. She immediately got caught up in the wrong crowd of kids. Drinking turned into smoking which turned into stealing and vandalism, she just kept spiraling down out of control until the night that changed everything. She and her friends were exploring along the sandy beach way past curfew when she saw a glowing seashell. She felt a sudden pull to the glowing shell, compelled to touch it. So she did. The light slowly began to fade the longer she held it until it was a regular seashell. Jade didn’t think anything of it until the next day she went to take a shower and fell due to her legs having disappeared and replaced with a tail.

Despite her track record, Jade is far from a delinquent. She respects knowledge and craves it, she may make bad decisions but she refuses to ever be called stupid. Her grades and performance in the classroom are outstanding. Consuming herself in her studies is how she managed to avoid the wrong crowd until she moved and even when she moved , she valued getting good grades. It helped her in a way that getting high and wasted never could. She’s a very strong willed person and hard headed, she’ll apply herself when she sees fit. She doesn’t care about the opinions of others because she thinks life is too short to give a about what others think. Overall, she’s a pretty decent person. She has a heart and when she cares for people, she really ing cares. Jade just likes to have fun in ways that are frowned upon by society, lucky for her she’s too busy having fun and still learning the ways of a mermaid to really care.

She’s always had an unspoken love for theatre , it goes without saying honestly. An odd combination, she knows. Theatre, on the other hand, was a way to escape who she is. She loved the idea of being someone else and making a character come to life even if it was for forty or so minutes. She enjoys swimming and eating the most thought but never at the same time.
