Thyra Hlodisdottir was born to the great Valkyrie warrior Hlodi some time during the fall in her home among the fields of Folkvangr under the watchful eyes of Freyja. Her father is known only to Hlodi and she never told anyone his identity, not even Thyra. There were always rumors growing up that he was a god, especially given her talents on the battlefield, but Hlodi would always deny it. Thyra never believed it either and it is only on that subject that she is ever humble.

From the day she came into being she had always been adept, advanced in almost every type of physical task like many of her kind. The more time went by, however, she seemed to further edge ahead of her peers. ‘Gifted’ some would say. ‘Blessed’ would be the most common term used to describe her though, at least when it came to martial prowess.

When it came to her personality, however, she was about as subtle as a warhammer that had been set ablaze. Thyra was often loud, boisterous and full of life; often fully living up to the meaning of her name ‘Like a thunder’. Passion and fire seemed to run through her veins, seep out of every pore, and give her pale blue eyes a constant glow. She had a lust for life, laughter, mead, men and women that was nearly insatiable. It made her a wonderful Viking when she needed to enter the world at Freyja’s bidding but in almost every other instance since then she has stood out.

For almost a thousand years she had to be recalled to Folkvangr because after the Vikings; she was ill-suited to the more refined nature of most of the world that had begun taking shape and it made it that much harder to scout able warriors. Still, there were instances when her unique personality fit in with a particular place or people and she was released to once again serve her Goddess.

When the Magnolia Springs had an opening for a keeper of the peace, Freyja saw the great potential there for Thyra to grow beyond that of a simple warrior. Thyra refused at first, not too eager to leave her home but she found that she could not resist the wishes of her Goddess and relented. Her name was changed to the much more modern Katheryn Winnick and the blonde bombshell left the halls of the Vanir to pursue her fate. She packed her bags and applied for a job, traveling the world to learn its new ways until she was finally accepted.

Quick to smile, laugh, and anger but she never holds a grudge. She has a great lust for all things in life and in general prefers to view pretty much everything positively. That being said, she does also have a dark and macabre sense of humor that can get her into trouble from time to time. She has a strong personality, is very vibrant, and voices her opinions often.
