never did it occur to him that he would serve one of the most influential families in the land of the morning calm. born to the lowest sector of society, kim doyoung was indeed a chosen one, regardless. however, the comfort that he conveniently has, spread at the palm of his hand - had a price to pay. 

growing up, he knew all too well that the burden of survival rests on his shoulders as the only child of the family. his parents were far from bright; the father worked as a garbage collector whereas the mother was a part-time housekeeper for numerous households. naturally, doyoung had little to no opportunities presented to further his growth as an individual, but that did not stop the child from dreaming. in as much as he did not wish to be born in a life as unfair as his, he knew that he had the strength to change its course. 

he believed.

and so the universe listened. on the night of his 6th birthday, for the first time - his parents threw a simple party for the child. tucked in the arms of his parents, doyoung gazed upon his first birthday cake, his first platter of fried chicken and rice, and his first experience of peace. if only time stood still, he thought. he'd rather stay at that very moment - where everything was close to perfect.

but who was he to demand that from god himself? truthfully speaking, was there even a 'god' who was called upon to save the helpless? 

to a six-year-old doyoung, there was no god. not when hellfire broke loose in his house seconds after he killed the light atop his candle to which his parents went along with towards the afterlife. there he was, kneeling in a pool of crimson as he held his lifeless parents in his arms. if god truly listened and loved him, then why would he allow a group of men to lay their hands on a powerless child? 

would things have been different if he weren't born? betting on the thousands of stars in the galaxy, of course, it would be - but he was born in this probability. 

and in this realm, he was destined for one thing: to be jung jinsoul's sole protector. the kims, his salvation, took him in as an addition to their line of butlers. witness to the grave crime involving the child, all that was left was doyoung's grit for avenging his parents' death by protecting those in need. 

despite having access to what the world has to offer, he was needed by her; the knight then vows his loyalty to his mistress under the moonlight — where the darkest secrets remain untold until the world comes to an end. 

PERSONALITY 
doyoung can simply be described as someone who's conscientious and ethical despite the nature of his job. as an individual with a strong sense of right and wrong, he considers himself as an advocate for change wherever he may be. he constantly strives to improve things, but at the same time - he's also afraid of making a mistake. perhaps his past has led him to have a constant "sense of mission" that always aims to battle with adversity. 

albeit his intentions are pure, too much of this constantly drives him to a level of toxicity. his moral compass corners him to the point where self-sacrifice reigns as a top option to further what he thinks is right. when called out in a time of challenge, he has the tendency to to be self-righteous and intolerant of others' wrongdoings to which he strongly condemns. as a result, he fails to practice what he preaches and that alone becomes his nightmare.
