the faces of those afflicted by his crimes haunt him. he was an insomniac and often experienced delusions of the dead blaming and yelling at him, especially toward the end of his life. the fact he believes himself so guilty makes him the most deserving of a spot in heaven for the sake of his potential for redemption. a reunion with his past police partner would help alleviate some of the thoughts that plague him. his one regret in life is not being able to apologize for his wrongdoings.
