background

a kitsune from hundreds of years ago, Seonghwa lived his life peacefully in the magical forests with his pack. the pack had become something of folktales in that area and children would leave treats for the kitsune, like their mothers told them to. the peaceful spirits never harmed the villagers, but always watched over them and protected them from invasions, famine, and storms. one day, as he was hunting, seonghwa stumbled across a human infant. the child was wrapped up in blankets, presumably abandoned by whoever his parents were. the then 3 tailed fox took care of the child until he was 4 years old. seonghwa's elders told him to return the child to the village, to be raised among his own people, and so he did. but he kept careful watch of the child he raised.
on the boy's 17th birthday, he ventured once more into the forest. the fox was not too far from the forest's edge, as he was watching him like he always did. the boy spotted his guardian fox. something inside the boy must've told him the fox was the one who raised him, for instead of running away or trying to kill him, the boy hugged and pet the kitsune. the reunion, though short, was nice.
a few years later, the boy had become a man and was apart of the village's militia.
