writing sample:
it was at times like these taeyong was reminded why animals and birds were the far superior race compared to vampires – hell, even humans. they simply had this intuition that everyone lacked; that everyone needed to keep the sanity in check. no matter how hard he tried, no matter how hollow his shell, taeyong couldn't resist flashing his feathered friend another tiny smile. with one last little scratch, the human straightened his back, signalling to the parrot that he had to take his leave from the perch.
with the bottle of rum being dangled in front of, taeyong figured it didn't matter whether he drowned himself in his sorrows with the rivers of alcohol or not. slender fingers encircled the neck of the bottle; pink lips were wetting themselves to attach onto the rim...
until the words finally registered.
"i'm sorry."
for a while, those three syllables rang in his head.
with it came a circular sequence of sorries. he was sorry that he had suggested taking a scenic route. he was sorry for wanting to wander near the edge. taeyong was sorry he couldn't save chanyeol. but then... why should he be sorry, when really, the whole reason they were cooped up there was because of hongjoong's whimsical suggestion?
with a suddenness that contrasted his lethargic and lifeless behaviour the last few days, the human slammed the bottle down back onto the floor before he stood up in front of the captain. suddenly, his eyes were hot, blazing orbs of fire, hatred, guilt – it was a mix of dynamite waiting to explode.
"yeah you better be ing /SORRY/. it's all because of /YOU/ that we ended up there!" taeyong burst out, hitting the man's chest in the process. "it's because of YOU that we're stuck on this ing place!" another hit onto the chest. "YOU, YOU! IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!"
by now, he had delivered a couple blows to the shorter man's chest. but with every slam of his fist, the tears welled up, grew bigger and hotter, until they were overflowing. they streamed down his cheeks like waterfalls. in a few seconds, his voice had grown hoarse and he was sobbing uncontrollably.
taeyong fell to his knees, fingers digging into his thighs painfully as his head hung low. the rivers of salty tears persisted, coupled with hiccupping sobs and cries.
it didn't matter whose fault it was. there was no bringing chanyeol back.
