Yukhei’s family was a little odd in that his parents were together, but also not. is co-parenting the word in korean? Yeah, it is. anyway, they didn’t realize their love at first sight wouldn’t last for eternity until yukhei was a few years old. not wanting their son to be in the middle of their issues and resent them both for life, they thus decided to split but still be on good terms with each other.

The result of that agreement was this: yukhei would continue to live with his father in hong kong while his mother went back to Thailand, where he’d return every summer. although it was sad yukhei’s father wasn’t always in the picture due to his work, yukhei recognized the effort his father would put in to spend time with him when he could. and while yukhei did sometimes long to run into his mother’s arms like his classmates did after school, grandma’s head pats and homemade lunch were just as nice.

Fast forward to age fifteen when yukhei’s father was offered to take over the new quarters his company set up in South Korea. his father laid out the yukhei’s choices for him: he could a) move to South Korea with him; b) move to Thailand and be with mom permanently; or c) stay in Hong Kong and continue being taken care of by grandma. his heart immediately felt a calling for the second option, but upon having a video call with his mother where she insisted he go to korea, he was conflicted again. “you’ll always come back to me during summer anyway, right son?” She’d said with a smile. yukhei flew to a new country at age sixteen. He initially had some struggles with learning a new language and customs, but he picked up on things pretty quickly. He went to the closest boarding school next to his father’s apartment (a mutual agreement for them to have their own spaces for a change) and ended up liking his new home so much he decided to stay for university.

if you were to ask yukhei what his favorite memory of haneul was so far, he’d laugh and say his favorite didn’t technically count because it happened a little before it. The week of move-in, his mother paid him a visit as a surprise. his cheeks still hurt from smiling so much that day, and the image of having dinner with both his parents, something they hadn’t done in years, was one he wanted to remember forever.

[UNDER CONSTRUCTION] a trait yukhei inherited from his father was being a busybody, literally. Yukhei not only finds it difficult to stay still, but he also finds it hard to /not/ socialize. He’s a people person, don’t blame him. It’s why he applied as soon as applications opened for RAs—he wanted to make people’s first year of college amazing and hopefully help them find a found family within the dorm community. (And not to be biased, but sun res hall /was/ better.) yukhei also really likes to be the reliable big brother/upperclassman.

#three \\ i’m pretty open to any genres so long as they’re not or heavily violent. i’ve mainly stuck to lighthearted genres in the past but i’d like to experiment with angst/drama!

#four \\ timezone is gmt-8 but i move like a +8 because i have bad sleeping habits. i am also generally more active at night. *haha*
