beomgyu owned everything and yet, held nothing.
growing up as the youngest child of two academically gifted parents and three equally gifted children, beomgyu lacked in no aspect. he was blessed in brains, wealth and talents. he excelled in playing the violin (at the behest of his parents), spoke multiple languages (talk to a man in his language, it goes to his heart; they would say) and topped every year in school (they would accept nothing less). for years, beomgyu did as he was told for neither he nor his siblings dared to disobey. a seemingly perfect child, really. though, when the time came, his family failed to see that.
as beomgyu pondered over the next steps of his life, he came to realise that music was his passion. all those violin lessons had possibly sparked a new found love for the art. thus, with fervour coursing through his veins, he sought out to break the news to his parents. surely they would be happy for him, right? his answer came in the form of a slap. not once had they ever considered him to stray away from the chosen paths. in their eyes, a musician, much less an ‘idol’ would only taint their family name. long forgotten were the little sacrifices beomgyu had to make for the sake of their happiness.
perhaps, that is where the thread had snapped. although he applied (and got in) to medical school to please his parents, beomgyu never attended a single lecture. instead, he used the time to participate in auditions and busking events; letting the tuition fees that his parents so generously offered, run dry.
however, there was only so far beomgyu could let the lie run. when his father had found out, beomgyu could swear that he had never seen anything more terrifying. the words the man spat out and the way he smashed beomgyu’s violin, still shook the boy to this day. the sole act of disobedience he had ever committed was met with so much disdain.
he pleaded with promises to seek out great things, yet, they accepted nothing and cast him out. the boy who once had everything at the snap of his fingers was left to fend for himself with simply whatever cash he had on hand. his mother hadn’t spared a second glance nor did his siblings understand that it was a matter of happiness when they tried to convince him into submission.
thus, he left. sleeping over on a friend’s couch for days, his salvation came in the form of a passed audition at starlux entertainment. though he still had to work hours upon hours on top of strenuous training to get by, just to be able to follow his dreams; it was a dream that he was willing to slog for.

one would think that due to his circumstances, beomgyu would be the type to brood silently in a corner. however, it was quite the contrary:
he was upbeat, optimistic and would approach just about anyone. beomgyu could turn anything into a joke and sometimes, lacked the ability to be serious. laugh your problems away, as they say. beomgyu did just that. he would never let anyone catch him cry nor show his weakness in fear that it’ll only drive people away. he had a stubborn streak at times and times, could be quite blunt but he generally meant well
he had plenty of friends, but none knew the real him; perhaps, he was scared of losing them too. thus, as open as he seemed to be, he held plenty of secrets: his past was locked up, the talents his parents cultivated remained hidden, and the broken remnants of his violin lay far buried underneath his bed.
