background!
the past & present.

xu minghao had been part of camp for really as long as he could remember. he was dropped off around the age of five with barely a grasp of what family was, his mother more of a smudge of a memory than anything. she had been quick to travel with him from china once she realized what was happening as he grew older, and five years was enough to show she couldn't handle protecting him on her own.

So he grew up amongst the other campers, watching them come and go while he remained a little tike running around. Grasping both his native language and English had been quite the struggle with dyslexia proving to be quite the , but he pushed through. All he's ever known are the "walls" of the camp, so he can be a little quirky when it comes to more modern slang and technology. He lived in the main house of the camp until he was old enough to be moved into the Hermes cabin with the rest of the unclaimed children. Despite being a little more introverted and standoffish, he fit in marvelously with the other kids. The Hermes cabin quickly became home to him, and he built a lot of really close bonds with the kids there.

Minghao considered himself one of the lucky ones, having been found as a child and brought up as a half-blood rather than trying to fit into the real world without so much of a clue as to who he was. The only dissonance that existed in him was his lack of a godly parent, loneliness creeping up on him every so often like a sorrow-filled song whenever he'd watch other campers get claimed. His friends had their suspicions as to his godly parent, because Minghao had an eagle's eye when it came to using a bow, and he had this odd knack of knowing when things would happen, not to mention his attachment to music itself. Yet no one voiced it for fear it would give the unclaimed boy hope.

Part of his upbringing had been by the hands of Mr. D, or Dionysus, surprisingly enough. The god being quite taken with the small child the moment he stumbled his way into camp, confused and abandoned. This bond between them was on the same level of parental love as Dionysus shared for his own children at the camp, and thus, the legendary sippy cup was created. Although, he was well past the age of needing a sippy cup, it became a comfort item for the young and confused orphan. It had the magical ability to refill itself, leaving the boy never dehydrated, especially when Dionysus wasn't there to directly watch over him. As he grew, the sippy cup took many different forms, it's most recent being a modern hydroflask that turns into a 40 oz two-handled pink and orange sippy cup if Minghao ever pisses off his adopted father. It's a legend among the other campers, because they've hardly seen the actual sippy cup, and the son of Apollo lets them believe that it is merely a myth.

His claim came in the form of his power for precognition making itself more well-known as he had vivid dreams and visions of an upcoming quest, fear leaving him breathless on the ground in the middle of a camp while Apollo's symbol glowed brightly above him. From then on, he moved into the Apollo cabin, welcomed with open arms and awe-filled expressions while he carried the trauma of what he saw with him. Tortured bodies and bloody battlefields were all he dreamt about for weeks until those campers came home safely, and he began to wonder if he was wrong.

Minghao had grown to become the head of the Apollo cabin, his vision still unanswered, and he prayed every night that he was wrong with what he had seen, but even without his father to tell him, he knew that it would be fulfilled at some point. After that vision, most of what he saw were tiny snippets from other quests and happenings around the came, every so often another scene from that tortured day would come back to him, and he'd leave his cabin to seek out the calming sounds of the ocean waves hitting the shore of the beach.

His best friend, and possibly soulmate (he'd never admit it out loud), may be the reason for Minghao seeking out the comfort of the beach. Sometimes the son of Poseidon's bed wasn't an option for him to curl up in to find distraction and comfort from the terrors that chased him in his dreams. Perhaps his own refusal to admit his feelings for the other demigod was the reason behind his promiscuity and lack of labels for anything. He liked what they currently had, so what was the point of changing it? No one bothered to ask questions anyway, but he could have sworn he heard something about a bet passing around the camp. The other campers refused to clue him into it, though, so he pretended it didn't exist.

ooc section!
important:
Try to have something in mind and read my profile before actually talking to me about roleplaying. If you'd like, send me a random starter! I actually love 'em! And the more unique or out of the box, the better.
writing:
I do script and para to novella. Script is generally done in 3rd pov, while para is done in 1st or 3rd pov. Lengthwise, I try to mirror, but I can get carried away fairly easy, so it's not guaranteed.
plotting:
I prefer winging over plotting most times, but I can plot. Because of this, I'll often do vague-ish plots that provide enough detail for you, but also give me enough room to play with our ideas. I also don't typically approach people unless I have a plot or idea in mind, and I really like when people do the same. Saves a lot of time.

To be honest, I also like writing starters and will most times if I know what I'm doing and if it makes sense for me to do it, but don't shove them on me. I get burned out doing so at times.
overall:
I'm very flexible about how we actually rp and will work at your pace if possible. Like, I can do one lining script all the way to novella, in both 1st and 3rd pov. I'm really chill with whatever you wanna do!
activity/speed:
I will never poke you. Never poke me or I will most likely lose muse. You also don't need to remind me about me owing you a reply. I usually remember who I'm roleplaying with. Also refrain from using my activity or lack of it as an excuse to pester me about a reply. Doing like that will just annoy me and make me prolong sending something if I send something at all.

I'm usually very slow with my replies, sometimes because of the length, but sometimes because I'm just slow to do them. We can always drop/pick up our thread(s), but make sure you communicate with me. Also know that I might be active in the chat infrequently or a lot. I'm not a very consistent person when it comes to this.
locations:
Honestly, I'll roleplay anywhere I can. I like rooms, walls when I'm busy, and I'm okay with PMs. Most plots I do are public friendly too, and when they aren't, I take them to PMs.

plots!
remember to read my rules.

childhood friend | taken
Either a child of Hermes or another unclaimed child, you grew up alongside Minghao at camp and were his closest friend. You two were inseparable until he (or you) got claimed and slowly drifted apart as you went to your separate cabins. You both tried to keep seeing each other, but your camp duties began to differ so much that eventually you only see each other during meals. Do you rekindle your childhood friendship? Or continue to watch at a distance? (male or female, preferably Hermes kid, friend/comedy plot)
dream | open plot
Minghao keeps seeing you in his dreams and it's driving him crazy. He wants to know why and how he can stop seeing you, because even his father is starting to appear in his dreams to give him weird looks. (male preferred, potential romance plot, or comedic plot)
teacher | taken
You're either a new Apollo kid or a new camper that has an interest in archery, but regardless, Minghao takes you under his wing after witnessing other campers teasing you for your lacking skills at the bow. He's considered one of the best archers at the camp, so he offers to be your teacher after finding out you give amazing head rubs that seem to soothe the headaches he gets after a vision of sorts. (male or female, friend/student plot, more can be plotted about how he finds out you're good at headrubs)
rivals | taken
For some odd reason, you and Minghao have butted heads since you came to camp, whether you're new or you two grew up beside each other. He doesn't understand why you feel the urge to push him around or harass him across the pavilion during meals, but it's really getting on his nerves. He decides to use a game of Capture the Flag as a way to confront you about your reasons. (male or female, friend/romance, if romance plot then male please, more can be plotted about why there's beef)
