Jay met Kaeun when she transferred to his high school in their second year. They fell in love almost immediately and became inseparable by the end of the year. They were the most notorious couple in school and were voted prom king and queen in their final year of high school. Their relationship was a happy one as far as Jay knew. He fully support Kaeun while she went to university, and then to law school. He choose to pursue art and eventually opened a tattoo shop of his own with the help of his best friend who had a business degree and worked at a bank near by.
They finally tied the knot about seven years later, and their marriage lasted for five blissfully happy years. Jay loved Kaeun more than anything in the world, but one thing always got in the way. Jay wanted kids, but Kaeun kept saying she wasn't ready. Then out of the blue one day Kaeun tells him that she's pregnant, and she hands him two large envelopes. The first one was divorce papers, and the second... the results of a paternity test. The baby wasn't his. She finally admitted she'd been having an affair for years and wanted to end the marriage. She wanted someone with a real career who could support a family.
Jay didn't find out until the next week that the man she was having an affair with was his best friend. The divorce was long and messy, and while the courts ruled in his favor because of Kaeun's infidelity it didn't matter. Jay sold the house, and the tattoo shop, picked up and moved to a new city. He found himself an apartment, and a new shop to work at. Now he just exists to get by, smoking too much and drinking more than he should.

Jay isn't a bad guy really, he's just a bit pessimistic at times because of the recent divorce. Losing his entire life hit him pretty hard and has left him feeling hollow.
He used to be a really bright person, always laughing, smiling, and joking around. Since the divorce he's withdrawn into himself. He's mellowed out and doesn't really smile as much anymore, if at all. The only happiness he still has is in his work, which he's more or less buried himself in since everything went down.
Most of the time Jay is chil, down to earth, social but not as energetic as he used to be. Sometimes he'll be a little too self-deprecating, or just a little too depressed to want to join in the conversations. He isn't really sure he ever wants to go down the 'love' road again, and he's really just looking for something to pass the time.
