a small aussie boy from brisbane with with a keen interest in dark things never thought these quirks would escalate to the degree they did, and neither did his parents, or his sisters -- or the teachers at school, or even the kids for that matter. cody fern always stood out when he wanted nothing more than to dwell in the shadows. a peculiar shadow with a deep-seated hunger grew within him, the inclination to embrace his godliness. his parents had spent so much time accosting him, likening him to the devil himself until cody wanted nothing more than to be God. so he set out on an expedition to find the full extent of his powers. 

as a kid it started out with tuning into the enochian frequency to hear angels speak; and when he would repeat their heavenly words his parents would cast him aside for speaking in tongues. soon followed the seizures that revealed flashes of the future, and cody's knack for speaking to the dead. little did he know he was utilizing his natural born magic, or rather -- it was oozing through without him knowing it. upon realization of his powers, and after years of complete subversion and degredation towards him from his parents, he finally ran away to discover himself. 

he's been to nearly every continent to speak to different practictioners, to learn from them and to study their capabilities. his notorious travels made his name spread like wildfire amongst the metaphysical community as an unbridled wildling looking for chaos. he was knowledge hungry and desired to find his magical limits. 

flying too close to the sun has landed cody at camp halfblood. while being in the area doing his studies he happened upon an unhinged seer who saw one of cody's many destinies and attempted to murder him. after serious damage dealt that left him blooded next to a river bank, he began calling upon a higher power to help him in his dying hour; which happened to be the first time cody was visited by his mother hecate. she came to inform him that people were coming for him, so as to not give up just yet. cody has met and conversed with deities with his studies but never did he think his origins would be tied to a goddess; yet as she spilled everything, it all made sense to him. 

his parents weren't his parents at all, rather a couple desiring money from the government for adoption when his real father died. apparently he was a human pagan who worshipped hecate, becoming rather close after a decade of his priesthood. he had died in retaliation for their closeness, and so a distraught hecate was convinced a religious home would prevent any magic from sprouting from her little boy. she wasn't aware the opposite would happen, but seeing his immense capabilities and ferocity made her proud, and so she decided to allow some divine intervention into his life. 

he's been at camp half blood for well over five months, and has yet to find the boundaries of his powers just yet. he's excellent in most everything he pursues, but everything else is lacking. he is completely unbalanced, partakes in too many frivolous activities and doesn't always have the best intentions. anything for him is a lesson to learn, so he constantly creates chaos and keeps himself in the throes so he can learn from it. cody is well aware that this way of life will be his ending on this earth, and so he has easily come to terms with his impermanence, which makes him most lethal. though, on a brighter note he's a complete open book and is clear on what he wants; to learn everything that's hidden and to have a good time. cody wanted to spend so much time in the shadows he feels the need to illuminate them now. 

weapon: tocháosférnai "bringer of chaos" ( toh-kaus-fair-nae), the scepter of helios.
origin of weapon: forged by helios for his sorceress daughter circe, as it was magically imbued with the power to let its master shapeshift. circe and hecate have formed a bond over time, as they are constantly mistaken for each other, with some myths even claiming hecate is circe's mother. when hecate made circe a new and improved scepter, circe gifted hecate the scepter of Helios as a good gesture. tocháosférnai appeared to cody when he was sixteen, and he had boughten it from a tibetan craftsmen right after he ran away from home. turns out it was hecate all along, seeing his potential begin to form. 
aesthetics: gold-plated scepter reinforced with alder wood, adorned with a lion's claw clasping a hefty gold sheen obsidian orb. in its natural form it is a scepter, but during rituals and for storage purposes, it often takes wand form. he always keeps it slipped in his inside pocket.

magical tendencies: chaos magic with necromancy, shadow travel, and vitokinesis
being a peculiar kid cody look for outlets to be social; and so his surplus of imaginary friends became his knack for talking to spirits, and going to new and freakish heights to help out his friends on the other side. when it came to friends stretching the laws of this world and pushing himself to the limit was a given. this friendship with spirits sharpened his powers to include shadow and astral travel so he could visit them at any time. of course it was draining, but cody was always looking for ways to stay longer, improve himself, and be more efficient. all of this started to come to a head when he attempted to combine his expanding vitokinesis magic and his knowledge of necromancy to give one of his spirit friends a body on this earth -- and not just any body, but their original one. cody was in this area picking up supplies for that ritual when the seer intervened, as did hecate, and henceforth beginning his involvement with the camp.

follies: no regard for consequences, unbridled energy in craving for expansion without proper grounding. he is blunt and unbalanced, so his decisions are often unpredictable and difficult to understand.

characteristics: an easy guy to get along with now that he's free to be himself. he's incredibly loyal to his friends and will go to any lengths for them. he is clear and concise, and someone whose straightforwardness may rub people the wrong way. cody's charisma tends to confuse and intrigue people into general acceptance of him. 

likes: smoking weed, golden oldies, psychedelics, David Bowie, camping, , reading, night hikes, evening tea, Stevie Nicks, FKA Twigs, snakes, es, grottos and caves
