Those were the phrases the young thalassan grew to memorize while growing up. It was often when he wanted to show his parents something he had found, or when he just wanted to spend some time with them. But he couldn't blame them, really. His parents were hard workers, who spent plenty of time working on things that were far more important than their son.

He was never wanting, and he never went without. But perhaps it would have done the boy some good to have parents who were a little more involved, and a little less dismissive, in his life.

It started when he was young. First, he would go out and play with the other Thalassan children, laughing and fooling around until something else caught his attention. And then, as he grew up, it was very simple. It was the animals. Fish and other sea creatures caught his attention, and soon he was intrigued. Soon he was spending his time following the animals, getting to know them, learning and doing all he could.

No longer did his parents brush him aside, but that was only when he was a teen. He didn't care for his parents' attention at that point, only wanting the freedom to explore. And they gave it to him, of course. That is, until Caspian began to venture closer to the shore.

They had "The Talk". It wasn't the talk about... you know... But instead, it was about those who walked and breathed on land. Terrans, they were called, and they were not to be trusted. Or at least, that's what was used to be believed. Caspian's parents told him of the legends, of what had happened in the past, and how they species has grown. His parents spoke of trust, of hesitance, of change.

It instilled hope in the boy. Though he knew not to entirely trust someone, he was too curious for his own good, and so he began to mingle with Terrans. Not the wisest choice, of course. It all started with a girl. Maybe they should have that That Talk, but they didn't, and surely his parents never thought that young Caspian would have a further relationship with a Terran girl, of all things. But he did. It was young love, one that neither of them thought would come to an end. But when the Terran girl's parents discovered that she was in a relationship with a Thalassan boy, they up and moved far away. It was all over in a flash.

Of course, Caspian never spoke of that relationship. He would have gotten in plenty of trouble. So instead, he kept it a secret, and vowed never again to make that same mistake. Besides, there were plenty of fish in the sea, or so they said. He just needed to get over his fear of losing himself to be able to be the person he wanted to be.
