a sunny winter day, 18th december, 1998.  

the snow laid heftily on the ground in a blanket of fluff and the air of aerok buzzed with festivities: christmas was soon approaching and baekje was buzzing with the arrival of the princess. the palace was quiet, all waiting with baited breath as the queen went into labor, the pain and anxiety excruciating. even when the babygirl was brought to life, tiny and wide-eyed, it was quiet. bringing the child was no easy feat and surely, it would only be a flower path from then on, right? alas, fate had other plans. 

"of great beauty, she will be named dami as a pride to baekje. prepare the feasts!" the royal advisors exclaimed, the fanfare that proceeded next awakening the nation.

and it was one; the king and queen holding the bundle of pink blanket in their arms and it felt like the world was there to see the new princess, who everyone was sure was a breath of fresh air after the boys that ruled the house..

as a child, dami was beauty and brains personified; true to her bloodline, she was more than capable in academics and more. she'd learned the alphabets by the time she could speak and before anyone knew it, she was reciting anything from poetry and prose to equations when need be, going to the extent to correcting what she felt was not plausible. but her forte was always art; she found comfort in it, the way a pencil or a paintbrush felt in her hand and she was apt enough at it that her pieces of art were hung in the baekje halls out of pride.

truly, she was the apple of her parent's eyes. but of course, like anything else in life, it did not last long. 

"god, she's so scary!" 

"why isn't she moving from it?! is she crazy?"

"d-do you think she killed the bird?" 

"maybe she needs to be locked up in an asylum!"

it came like a hailstorm, the influx of what were meant to be jabs on that summer day in elementary. it was recess and she had just finished her cup of chocolate pudding and had taken it upon herself to take a break from her sketchbook to wander to the swings in the playgrounds. perhaps it was in an opportunity to make friends, perhaps it was seeking some lone time by herself. but her eyes caught a mass of black mess on the ground and she looked carefully, the toes of her pristine black coat covered in dirt and the mess that she had found when she nudged it, it was a dead crow. 

screams followed along with frantic footsteps but they were not dami's. her teachers, classmates all milled about to see, horrified at the sight in front of them. 

"how can she be so calm?!" 

"she's crazy!" 

"mom, i'm scared!" 

her pretty visage was a perfectly blank canvas, doe eyes filled with little to no emotion as she stepped away from the crow, turning on her heels to push past the crowd and back to her seat..

dami had always known she was different. her callousness and lack of empathy had always been the reason why she could never attempt to hold a functioning relationship with her siblings no matter how much she tried but that did not stop her at all. 

no matter how much the people surrounding her seemed to avoid her, she was one of unquestionable loyalty and it showed in the way she would always seek their attention. whether it was to show off her artwork or excitedly rant about a film she had just watched or even to ask for something as simple as a treat, she sought validation in a way.but it was overbearing; she realized that the hard way. 

"why the hell can't you behave like older sister? or stay put like wonwoo?!" 

"you're so ill-behaved!" 

"sit down or i will have to punish you!" 

"this is getting way out of hand! you're going to boarding school! this behavior needs to stop!" 

"m-mother? father?" she trembled as she asked, wide eyed and unable to understand why she was being shipped off.  

it happened in the blink of an eye at the age of 14, and soon enough she was being dnalreztiws at the l'école du beau alps, away from what she considered home. but dami realized that if she were to spend her teen years in such a place, might as well make it her new home. and she excelled at this too.

it's been 9 years and she can finally say she's back. but at what cost? can she say she's changed from how she was when she was 14? can she finally boast about her degrees in fine arts and art history?

 

the beginning of it all; spontaenous ideas with an unfeeling person and an all too impulsive one may lead to karma laughing at the both of them. the kiss between jaemin and her was not more than what it was meant to be but here they are.

 

the news breaks, her phone blows up with messages and she's congratulated- but for what? it's a groggy morning, albeit it being 11am, but one glance at her texts is more than enough to send her into a black hole of questions. surely, her parents were insane for this! was she really going to be married to prince jaemin of silla? 

 

silla's annual ball was meant to be the dream event of the century, but not for the princess. she thought a heart to heart with her sister would soothe the annoyance that came with the showdown between her mother and herself which even made the local tabloids but her fiancee decided it was a bit too much for the both of them to remain as is- what could they talk about at such an event, specially with hawk eyes on them all the time? 

 

there has always been tension in the baekje household, especially between the middle princess and the lady of the house. and it doesn't take very long for the tension to burst, animosity rising between both women. [ read monologue in dami's chambers for more ]  

 

wedding bells were supposed to chime down the halls of the baekje and silla palace but for dami and jaemin? a couple as unconventional as anything, they did not go by traditions. running away on a whim to sirap for a private wedding, these two decide it was for the better than anything to keep the wedding between themselves and strangers they know. yet when they return, surely a lot of questions and chaos alike await them both.

has graduated from university with a double major in arts history and fine arts and a minor in international business. but given how much she loves art and has chosen to make it her career, she has also taken multiple courses and trainings in restoration, museum conservation, etc. art portfolio can be found here.

 

 

dami had asserted herself as a up and coming artist from her school days and although portraits in mediums such as oil were her forte, it changed slightly the moment she stepped foot into aerok again; she had begun taking a liking to landscapes and she had made sure the gallery that she opened and still runs portrays her country's splendity. in the mean time of her gallery renovating for the next exhibitions, she works as a conservatist at the local museums to restore artworks, teach some of their history and so on.

 

 

ISTP-A, the virtuoso — brainy given how she's attended one of the most prestigious boarding schools in the world but is also humble enough not to show off. creative & spontaneous, dami has it in her to be the best she can in her field and line of work as an artist and her projects often come with flow and imagination. knows how to prioritize the things that need to be done but it often comes with unpredictability, not knowing what she will do and when and this is often triggered by anyone who cuts the said flow of her inspirations. stubborn as she will do what is required of her at her own pace and will and often will move onto things will little to no apology or sensitivity. quite logical and although it comes off as insensitive, it's a lack of empathy that makes it uneasy for her to be able to relate to people. she is known to be quite reserved, there is little she is willing to share about herself with anyone and will always have steel barriers around herself.
