while jack frost might have accepted his destiny to become a guardian, his son, lee taeyong, did not — nor does he think that he ever will.

all taeyong wanted was freedom, and being a guardian would guarantee him anything but that. as much as he loves bringing smiles into people's faces, he disliked the idea of being bound by rules and regulations, and after a rather lengthy discussion with his father (apparently his behaviour reminded his father of his past self, which made the latter more sympathetic in a way), he agreed to let taeyong go as long as he isn't looking to cause harm.

and while he has no intentions to do so, life works in funny ways indeed.

the first thing he did after gaining his independence is to travel the world. at first he travelled to places with heavy snowfall and long winters to gain believers — because despite not being a guardian anymore, taeyong still loved to bask himself in attention from mortals. unlike his father, people did not have to believe in him to be able to see him (such was the perk of being born to a human mother), so he took advantage of it and showcased his abilities to both children and adults. winter has never been this magical before, they say. taeyong thinks that he doesn't need to be a guardian to bring joy to people.

despite being weak against the heat, he finally mustered up the courage to travel to tropical countries where winter is just something they see in movies. it didn't take him long to figure out that they must have wanted to experience it in real time, so taeyong used his powers to bring snow into their country—

—which resulted in him accidentally cursing the country with eternal winter.

Personality taeyong takes on most of his father's personality traits. he's a free-spirited man who tends to disregard the rules and his responsibilities, which led him to step down as a guardian in favor of a less demanding life. he often makes reckless decisions without giving them much thought, which can lead to dangerous consequences (see also: his history). while he is more selfish compared to his father, he genuinely cares for the wellbeing of others. he is friendly and approachable despite his seemingly cold appearance, and will often tease people to show his affection.

— flight: he is able to manipulate the wind to a certain degree to fly.
— leaf manipulation: he inherited his father's abilities to communicate with leaves as if they were human.
