chapter one

Silas’ parents met during their fourth year at Hogwarts and fell deep in love. His Irish-Hungarian father, Eoghan Corvin, was a Ravenclaw as the rest of his relatives were. The Corvins were a long line of pure-bloods and strived hard to keep it that way. Knowing this, Eoghan kept his relationship with Silas’ mother a secret. Silas’ mother, Minjung Choi, (also a Ravenclaw) was a Korean muggle-born witch raised alone with her sister by her birth father in South Korea. After Minjung and Eoghan graduated from Hogwarts, they traveled around the world together, exploring every corner they possibly could and making new friends in every new place.

Upon discovering that Minjung was pregnant, they returned to Eoghan’s hometown and brought the joyous news to the Corvin family. But what was joyous news to the young couple was not the same for his parents. Eoghan’s parents were repulsed by their relationship and their decision to have the child; the Corvins refused to accept the disparity in blood status. Eoghan’s parents cast their son aside and permanently removed him from the family tree. Grief-stricken, Eoghan and Minjung left at once and decided to make a life of their own together.
chapter two

They made their home on a remote beach in Ireland, far away from the eyes of Muggles. Eoghan changed his last name to Ciarán, an Irish name, preserving the first and last letter of his family name, ‘Corvin’ (deriving from the Latin word ‘corvus’ which means ‘raven’) and simplifying its meaning to Ciarán which means ‘little dark one’ in Scottish Gaelic.

His father continued his passion for potion-making and became a well-known potioneer. Wizards and witches from around the world flew to the Ciaráns’ quaint home to purchase Silas' father's best concoctions. Silas' mother was not as adept in potion-making as her husband was, but she had a great aptitude for herbology and grew a many magical plants and fungi which were used in Eoghan's potions.

Once Silas was born, his parents’ world was filled with insurmountable joy.
chapter three

Silas was a bright toddler, curious and rebellious at times, but his parents loved him regardless and embraced the adventurous soul of their beloved son. His childhood was filled with unconditional love, and his parents were two of the happiest people he knew.

That was until the Corvin family called upon Eoghan and Minjung to join them for a grand family dinner.

It was at this gathering that Silas discovered three things. The first was that he had family on his father’s side. The second was that his last name would have been Corvin if his mother was a pure-blood. The last was that his mother was not and that difference meant something abominable.

A few of his father’s second cousins, Silas’ aunts, gossiped about his mother’s blood status and whispered the term ‘mudblood’ among themselves the entire duration of their stay. Silas had become observant at a tender age and noticed the different treatment he received from his grandparents compared to his cousins whose parents were both pure-bloods. He never truly understood the discrimination in regards to blood status, but it was clear to him that his paternal relatives were disgusted with his father, his mother, and him. His parents did their best to hide such familial issues from their young son, but Silas became enraged. He hated the snobbish and insolent attitudes of his older relatives and couldn’t understand their hate for two people who had done nothing wrong.

To Silas, his parents were still the happiest people, but their happiness came at a cost and he made it a point to never raise questions or discuss topics about that side of his family.

cherry wood
wands of cherry wood are rare and possess a strange magic yet yield truly lethal power, whatever the core.

unicorn hair core
wands with a unicorn hair core are faithful and usually remain attached to their first owner. they are extremely difficult to turn to the dark arts and may become melancholic if mishandled. wands of this core produce the most consistent magic.

rigid flexibility
a wand of rigid flexibility give their complete loyalty to an owner who has faced great tragedy. often, rigid wand owners are cautious and have difficulty trusting others, but they are not unkind. they prefer to be left in solitude to accomplish all that they wish to with the freedom to do so.
