THE FAMILY OF DEROSE-ALLARD WAS PUREBLOOD IN LINEAGE. FROM THE PATRIARCH, MARIUS THE WISE WHO HAD BEEN A ROYAL ADVISOR TO PHILIP II, KING OF FRANCE, THE FAMILY HAD ALWAYS BEEN IN THE SIDE OF MUGGLES AND FREQUENT THE MUGGLE WORLD. THEY HAVE BEEN AIDS IN WARS AND AT A POINT IN TIME WERE GIVEN AN ESTATE AND ACQUIRED TITLES.
BUT FROM THE START OF NAPOLEON'S REIGN, AND THE FALL OF THE MONARCHY WITH THE DEATH OF KING LOUIS XVI, THE NOBLE FAMILY HAD GIVEN UP THEIR ESTATE AND TITLES AND STARTED TO DISTANCE THEMSELVES FROM MUGGLES AND THE MUGGLE WORLD. FREJA WAS IN A UNIFORM HE HAD RECOGNIZED; BEAUXBATON ACADEMY. BUT THE man IN THE PICTURE WAS WEARING SOMETHING HE HAD NEVER SEEN. AND HE COULD BARELY MAKE OUT THE SEAL ON HIS UNIFORM BUT IT LOOKED LIKE A lion. HE TURNED THE PHOTOGRAPH OVER, HE SAW INTRICATE HANDWRITING dancing on BLACK INK AND IT READ; 'FROM HOGWARTS WITH LOVE, EMRYS.'
it was one of the most RENOWNED SCHOOLS IN THE WIZARDING WOLRD. NOW KNOWING THAT HIS REAL FATHER HAD ATTENDED THAT SCHOOL MADE HIM DETERMINED TO GO THERE as well. the young claude had wanted to go to where his father had studied and wanted to be sorted in the same house; gryffindor.
LOUIS, ALTHOUGH AGAINST HIS WILL, HAD AGREED TO SEND HIS nephew TO SCOTLAND AND FORM HIS OWN OPINIONS AND decide for himself now. his mother had chosen love over obligation and loyalty to the family. louis could only hope claude would make a different choice.
SENDING OFF the boy off WAS NEVER EASY FOR HIM. FOR YEARS HE HAD TRIED SO HARD TO SHIELD HIM OFF of the path to the unknown. he was never fond of emrys elloway and his ideology. how he easily threw freja away even though she had chosen him over her family.
it was a painful regret he would carry to his grave that he had not protected his sister enough. that he had let his own nephew be aBANDONED BY HIS GOOD FOR NOTHING FATHER WHO APPARENTLY HAD WANTED TO MAKE HIS PRESENCE KNOWN.
LOUIS KNEW HE HAD NO RIGHT TO RESTRICT CLAUDE FROM EVER GETTING THE CHANCE TO MAKE DECISIONS FOR HIMSELF. WHETHER HE WOULD CHOOSE THE FAMILY HE GREW UP WITH OR THE FAMILY HE HAD BY BLOOD. IT WAS ALL UP TO HIM.

you will rarely ever see claude made or upset. he has a carefree attitude and isn't easily upset. he's quite passionate about the things he's immensely interested in. he has a tendency of drowning himself into the latest thing that intrigues him. he's couragous although would never be the first one to step up, not unless it's a dire situation. he'd rather fall into the background and isn't interested in getting attention or being the best. he cares so little of how people perceive him, not unless it's criticism. he's endlessly secretive, he hides his thoughts from the rest of the world and keeps to himself when at times when he just wants silence.
claude is a listener and you could trust him with your secrets. his father, louis had always instilled in him integrity. nothing was worth more than your character as a wizard. so long as your heart is in a good place, nothing can ever stop you. he keeps his word and never makes promises he can't keep regardless if with an unbreakable vow or without.
all of these good sides have an equivalent amount of bad too. he's a control freak although he doesn't show it. he only likes situations that he knows he has control over or he can predict. it irks him when he can't predict what happens next. this is one of the reasons why one of his core classes is divination and his extra curricular is xylomancy. he prefers it if he has some semblance of control over his life.
although he would never like to admit, he is jealous and is competitive. claude is silent about how he sees other people as his competition. but he also has the self-destructive behavoir of not doing anything. he knowns he can and if given the chance he would but he has a habbit of preferring sleep over anything else. he is also insecure about the fact that he doesn't know how to keep relationships and has little to now friends.
he spends most of his days sleeping in the hufflepuff common room or his dorm. whether it be good for him or not, he is dismissive about it.
