HIS CONTEXT
Thanatos never felt belonged amongst the Gods and Goddesses of his realm. He was the quiet under-dog of the Underworld, over-shadowed by Hades who was known as the true God of Death; merciless, unempathetic, and feared by many. Little was known about him, but as the very personification of Death itself, other deities possessed an impression of him that was heavily influenced by the likes of Hades.
But he was different. He knew he was, and that was enough to satisfy Thanatos' sense of identity. He did not feel the need to prove himself as a God of Death, different to the ruler.
Thanatos had always busied himself with remaining between the realms of life and death, observing, greeting, and guiding humans who had taken their last breath and was ready to begin their life beyond consciousness; the afterlife. As a result, he never had, or never found significance in the camaraderies, friendships, and rivalries that may develop between other deities. He was happy to be solitary.
Many referred to him as the 'Grim Reaper', and even the humans stigmatised him as an evil spirit. However, Thanatos' touch was gentle, likened by that of his brother Hypnos (God of Sleep). Witnessing death after death the vulnerabilities and terrors felt by humans upon his door, Thanatos promised himself that his guidance for lost souls to heaven or hell would be warm and cozy. His quiet passion for his duty as the God of Non-Violent Death would embrace confused souls with a sense of comfort and re-assurance.

HIS PERSONALITY
Thanatos is quiet and withdrawn as he prefers not to speak more than necessary. He understands that this only reinforces his image as a mysterious, dark, and evil deity, but he has come to not care.
His impression may be overwhelmingly gloomy, but his heart is of gold, one that is large enough to care for human souls and make their travel to the afterlife pleasant and silently solacing. However, he is trusting to a fault, which is another reason why he prefers to be solitary.
Thanatos is passionate in what he does, determined to complete his duty, whatever it may be. This passion transcends to his emotions as well; on rare occasions he does form an important bond with someone, he is protective, and may be easily angered in unjust situations.

HIS CURRENT PACE
As of now, Thanatos enjoys the rather leisurely aura of attending Olympus. It gives him time and a routine to fit things he has always wanted to try in to his daily life.
His current major is in Design in Visual Communication (the Visual Arts) as he has always been fond of expressing ideas and thoughts through the makings of art.
A minor course in Floristry was a rather impulsive application Thanatos got accepted in to; surrounded by death so often, he found peace in the life cycles of flowers, a symbol of blooming life and love. So on a rather late night escapade through his laptop, Thanatos had found himself enrolled into Floristry.
