Sokka wouldn't say that he was proud of his past. He was a child that grew up in the middle of war. His mother died and his father left him in charge because of that war. "You're the man in charge now. Take care of your sister," Dad said before he left.
So, Sokka grew up believing that men had to take care of women, that men were stronger, that they were warriors. And Sokka was going to be one of those warriors too, one day.
Sokka always knew he wanted to fight in the war, but he never had a reason to fight until he met Yue. Again, he was put under the task to protect a woman, but Yue was different. She wasn't a fighter like his sister—she was far from it. But she was strong. She was so, so strong. And then she died, and he failed to do what he was tasked to. He couldn't protect her. That was the first spark, the first realization that he had to do something more than just his selfish vision of becoming a warrior.
Sokka didn't realize he was biual for a long time. At first it was just general complements. "Oh, hey, that guy looks really fit. He looks great!" To admiring their looks, to enjoying the little mannerisms of the boys he had crushes on. It was a slow process before he realized that, really, truly, he was attracted to men just as much as he was attracted to women. And to be honest? He felt a little guilty. Like he shouldn't harbour those types of feelings in any sort of way. Eventually, he learned to accept it, slowly, but surely.
Sometimes, on the nights when the moon is full and shines down in the sky, Sokka likes to look up at it. He stares at the moon that illuminates his cheeks, and he speaks. He talks to the moon spirit—that kind, beautiful spirit—and he tells her everything. He tells her what him and his friends have been up to, he talks about his crushes, or his new loves, or his heartbreaks. And he knows, deep down, that Yue is listening, smiling down on him. And sometimes, he swears, he can see her wink at him.

Sokka, despite his upbrining, is a rather chill guy. Always known for his wit and sarcasm, he's quick to make a comeback or a joke whenever the mood is right.
Even then, Sokka is still quite skilled. He's a practiced engineer, and he's always quick to solve problems when they arise. He thinks critically and logically, despite being a terrible flirt and a chaotic disaster.

+ WRITING STYLE. i only ever do 3rd pov when i rp outside of the main chatroom. and i can go from scripted to para. i try my hardest to mirror my replies, but sometimes my brain is very small and simple, and i haven't taken a serious english class in a few years, so pardon the very Simple vocabulary. i also tend to lapslock a lot, but if you're not vibing with that, i can use proper capitalization as well.
+ REPLY SPEED. again, i have a pretty small brain. i'm also a full time student, so my reply speed is generally going to be pretty slow. i will try to get it done as soon as i can, but if i don't reply to you in over five days, feel free to give me a nudge and politely ask me to reply. but be nice to me bc i'm frail and if you're mean i just won't respond.
+ PLOTTING STYLE. i do prefer to wing a plot rather than to overly plan it. i'm not opposed to delving deeper into details in plotting, though. if you're coming to me asking to rp, please have something in mind before doing so. i suggest reading through the whole profile and ooc section first.
+ STARTERS. for the most part, i'm okay with doing starters if they make sense in terms of the plot or in general. however, i am busy sometimes and may be uncapable of doing a starter. keep this in mind!.
