when she was a child, hyejoo was heralded as a child prodigy, having read texts beyond her years in a matter of minutes (this is hyperbolic of course), and aces her classes with ease. but academics couldn't be any further from her true passion and drive. being raised under a funeral director, she can't be any more ethralled to deal with the deaths or the aftermath that takes place. sounds rather strange, but the motive comes from a morally sound place, she tells herself everyday.
"my father told me that funerals allow people to leave this world with pride and dignity! and for them to know that there are people there for them."
her father's words resonate with her to this day, and even moreso during her favorite grandfather's death. even when most despised his senile nature, hyejoo still walked miles to the nearest beach she could find, and to give him the proper burial and the closure to his life he deserved.
