From a young age, Hazael had learned to blend into the shadows. Nobody paid him much mind as it was anyways. Son of a simple seamstress and a bastard child to his father, he quickly learned his state in life was to be silent. He is an anti-villain of sorts. He just wants what is best for his people, for the people he has found community with. If that means thieving and conniving, then so be it. He had a simple job on the surface- a barkeep to a speakeasy for monsters, ghouls, goblins, and the sort. any and all were welcome, but as soon as problems started- well, lets just say problem starters would be dealt with. But Hazael (or Haze to most friends) had a darker side. Well, it couldn't be classified as dark technically.
Haze admits his trespasses. He knows thievery and deception were bad. If he were to ever be caught, he would surely be put to death. But nevertheless, he did what he did because it was just. The Chau looked after him, so he looked after his people.
While Haze didn't necessarily get into the action, he would do recon. Groundwork, if you will. Plan making. He helped map out options for heists and raids for his gang, all while remaining a simple, quiet barkeep. Nobody would ever suspect the strong and silent type.

When Hazael was young, he attended a school for gifted youth. Those gifted children would be preened and prepped for sucess in adult life. Unfortunately, Haze's mother couldn't afford to send him to private school when his scholarship was cut, so he had to transfer to a public school. You are an old school pal of his, and you bump into him randomly on the straight, then insist on the two of you catching up. Unbeknownst to you, Haze had a decision to make; lie or tell the ugly truth.
