kael realized he was different when he was six years old. he had been playing on the playground with a friend, pushing them on the swing. as they demanded to go higher, kael pushed them higher. "Higher, higher!" they cried. kael gave them one big push.

 

 

 

 

 

 

the push was so powerful that his friend swung around the swingset entirely. his friend began to scream in terror, and kael could only apologize.

kael hid his abilities for most of his life. he never used them at school or around others. only in his room did he pick up pencils and will them to embed themselves in the wall. kael hid the holes behind a poster and his parents were none the wiser.

it was ultimately an act of kindness that exposed him. kael was 19 and it had been only a few months after a campagin to round mutants up had began. a car crash happened only feet from kael. a pedestrian that had been trying to cross the street was stuck between two cars. kael got between them and pushed. instead of being grateful, the pedestrian screamed louder. kael was handcuffed and sent to prison.

It was a normal prison, though. kael met two other mutants who had been unjustly arrested and charged. It didn't take much effort to stage a riot and break out of the prison.

Kael was on the run for a little over a year before specialized weapons were made available to law enforcement that nulled mutant powers. he was captured and taken to silver vale..
