kim baram was born in daegu of 1997, her mother is a single mother who lived alone as a small restaurant owner. she never blames baram for being born, yet she is the hope for her to survive in the cruel world they're in. baram grew up being a good kid, she helped her mother in her work at a young age that the townfolks begin to like baram's cheery personality as well as the sunshine vibes she gave off to everyone. yet one thing baram wanted at a young age is to sing and become an idol.
however, shin family were very influential in daegu, they are the family of buddhist and shamans, they also holds huge part of south korea's economy as they stay true to their traditions. they maintained a shrine at a grotto but they are against her mother and her dreams to be an idol, they left the traditions yet live to own a small restaurant to make a saving of their own.
she had been watching idol groups on televisions and she dances along with them and baram happily sings along with her mother when she was a kid, but through out her school days, she was always the last person that they chose to perform which she grew more and more shy as she was thinking that she's not good enough. her mother always encouraged her to be what she wanted and told her never give up and keep thriving, that's what she did. baram starts to spark up her hopes to become one of the trainee of one of the entertainment.
the high school years, she discovered her new talent on rapping as her classmates challenged her to rap on some songs which she did. when dance contest came, baram was the first one to apply but again, she's the last one to perform, she never get to be in a group with her classmates. but one scout sees baram's exotic yet hidden talent, she contacted baram and asked her to be in an audition of nova lux entertainment. to her surprise, baram couldn't believe that her dreams will finally came true!
at the age of 18, baram moved to seoul and rented a dorm while her mother stays in daegu to keep their business running. her dreams of becoming an idol came true, when she auditioned, she was nervous and afraid that she might fail again. but she recalls that her mother had told her, "you are the hope and never give up on that." those words made her stand up in tthe audition and performs a song that she dances, raps with a bit of singing. they could see baram's determination even though she is just a beginner and they would thought she would improve more in the near future.
it took her two years to train herself in vocals and dancing, she got along with other trainees as well, but when the announcement came. the ceo starts to introduce a new girl group name pandora, baram was one of the trainees that might be qualified to become a member. but when the member roster came in, her name wasn't there, they could still see no progress on her even though being two years in the industry as a trainee. two years of hard work never paid off, she lacked confidence and the charms of being an idol. she's almost at the point of dropping as a trainee, it was hard for her to accept that people could see through her weaknesses. wasn't it good enough? she has talents, but she never had the confidence to show it.
she stayed inside the dorm for a week until her mother called her, she was expecting her to be an idol but baram broke down as she told her that she never became a part of the group. her mother comforted her through the phone and told her not to give up just yet, there are more opportunities to come for her. she just have to improve herself over time.
a few years later, baram is still a trainee and yet she improved a lot but she missed the opportunities she had to debut. she always kept in mind that there is still hope, little did she knows that one scout who encouraged her to audition years ago sees that she's the hope of everyone, she is the hope but she herself never sees the hope in herself yet. however, that scout called her "hope" as her stage name in case she debuts as either a soloist or a member of a new girl group.
however, when the head of their family, baram's grandfather's health is deteriorating, he chose baram to be the sole heiress to his inheritance and the next head of their family. thought many protests that baram doesn't uphold the principles of their tradition, her grandfather had already made his decision to make her the next head instead of victoria, who never really cared about traditions and do what she liked the most, being an idol.
as time goes by, baram goes more and more exposed of being an idol that she became careless and more sarcastic in her side, she became more and more outgoing to bars and such. already breaking the impression by the paparazzis and the scandals that the past members of pandora has, it affected her as well. she goes back to daegu in a hurry as she got a call from her grandparents that her beloved mother had trouble breathing and collapsed, baram discovered that her mother has have a heart sickness and later passed away in her sleep while hope is beside her.
fact/s: she's a distant cousin of veronica and victoria shin, she changed her name from shin to kim upon learning that her father shows up during her mother's funeral and gave her the opportunity to be with their family instead. she learned that she has half-siblings and has a very close relationship with sooyoung and hyunsoo.
