victoria shin is a half-american, half-korean born in queens, new york. her mother, vivian steins, was a famous musician and broadway singer who starred many roles in the broadway. she met her father, shin gihoon, who was a director of one of the broadway play, there they start their relationship and afterwards they eloped and get married.
at a young age, she was immersed into playing a few instruments especially in piano and guitar thanks to her mother who was a protege when it comes on playing instruments. victoria was happy to play instruments with her mother, she's even fond to sing and dance as her mother did in the broadway, she always invited her with her dad to see her perform. however, during her performance in the stage, vivian fainted, shocking everyone at the theater.
she was rushed to the hospital with her daughter and husband, victoria was crying and didn't let go of her mother's hand. her mother was diagnosed with cancer and it was too late for her to prevent it, the young victoria keeps whispering to her mother that she's going to be fine even though she's not getting any better as days goes by. vivian was then bedridden most of her days and told her daughter about the wonders of broadway and how she became famous. vivian even told her that she wanted to be in a band but she preferred to be in a theater.
but within a few months of fighting of her illness, she passed away as she hummed one last song to victoria. the death of a famous person strikes the hearts of those who were fond of their songs and perfomance, but nothing would compare the pain and loss of a mother who always loved her own family despite having a sickness. after the funeral, gihoon still couldn't forget about his loving wife and lover that he tried to spend money on prescriptions to keep him from remembering the loss.
this affects victoria who is already 15 at a time, due to his father not caring for her anymore, she became a rebellious teenager, doing gigs in a patio or a bar just to save money. she still loved her dad however she just don't like to see him sulking in a couch not doing anything for them. she did get an argument with him whenever she's late from her gig, but that was last stick of his father as he starts to blame himself for being incompetent and one day, he was done.
victoria sees blood in the bathroom, then there she sees her father, with a ruptured vein. it was a gruesome scene that she couldn't stand. after what happened, they told her that it was a suicide and this traumatized the girl. durring the funeral of her father, no one came to visit, only grandparents in her father's side.
they asked her to live with them, going to south korea, her father's country and live with them. without much of a choice, victoria agreed and left the states to live with them. it took her a year to adjust herself in the new environment in seoul until one scout sees her talent, he gave her a card for the audition in the nova lux and victoria agrees to go on an audition.
during her audition, victoria shows her talents on playing a few musical instruments which the judges and trainers took interested in. with the nod of their heads, she passed the audition and became a trainee musician. 3 years of training, she was debuted as a member of a band named, 'renu' with her stage name as tori.
victoria is a bold and proud girl, she's decisive and not afraid to speak out her thoughts. she's the sassy girl of their group, however she makes trouble from some time but she's able to fix it. a tsundere. the only thing that could tame her is to treat her foods or alcohols. she has a phobia on blood and suicide, this really will really trigger her panic attacks.
shin baram, is her distant cousin but both of them doesn't know they are relatives. and never, ever let any one give her the kitchen, she might start a fire.
